Blame me for illegal immigrants (BLAME AMERICANS FIRST) (MASSIVE PROJECTILE BARF ALERT)
CNN ^ | 2010-04-09 | Ruben Navarrette Jr.

Posted on 04/09/2010 9:48:29 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

(snip)

I know the answer. It's my fault. It's because of me, and tens of millions of other Americans just like me. We create the demand for illegal immigrant labor not because of anything we do but because of all the things that we will not do -- at any wage. Even as someone who juggles several jobs, I have to admit that my work ethic -- especially for hard, physical labor -- is a distant second to that of my immigrant grandfather who came from Mexico legally in the early 1900's.

My grandfather was a farm worker who would make it a point to show up to a job early and start working a half hour before he clocked in, as his way of showing appreciation to his employer for hiring him. There are days when my employer doesn't see me before noon, because I'm writing somewhere else or giving a speech or making my kids breakfast.

My grandfather would do any kind of work without complaint and graciously accept whatever wages were offered because he felt as if the employer was doing him a favor by giving him a way to support his family. When I start a new job, I instinctively negotiate for a higher salary and more vacation time than I had at my last one -- that is, more money for less work -- and I usually feel like I'm doing the employer a favor by showing up.

(snip)

If Americans want to stop importing foreign workers, either legally or illegally, then we had better start producing domestic workers who will do the kinds of hard and dirty jobs that our grandparents did without complaint -- and that now, these many years later, most of us won't do without complaining.

People used to build homes.

Now people exploit a cheap labor pool.

It's like an outdoor sweatshop.

Pay a fair wage. Like you want for "fair trade coffee and tea" farms.

Why work a low paying job when you can do just as well on government handouts?

What a bunch of crappola. Have you ever watched the show “Dirty Jobs”...I have yet to see an illegal alien on one of them...just good ol’ white & black AMERICAN boys. Most Americans are working too hard, trying to pay for this invasion.

This writer is nothing but an Anti-American Bigot....there are many Americans who are willing to work....but are undercut by low-paid/no-skilled illegal aliens

With the US at 10% unemployment....and in many areas...higher....there is zero need for Illegal Aliens....only the Anti-American Bigots continue to push Illegal Alien Amnesty

Let's tell it like it is.

White well to do liberals will never admit it, but they do not want black Americans as staff. They want neither sullen and resentful blacks nor overly obsequious uncle toms. The rich liberals want to see smiling brown faces scrubbing their floors and mowing their yards.

Meanwhile, agri-businesses sees no reason to either pay a higher wage or automate when it can get illegals to do the work for a pittance.

And that's the name of that tune.

What a steaming pantload. I would say to this pussy: "Speak for yourself, jerkoff." Complaining has NOTHING to do with ILLEGAL immigration. Who said Americans of any stripe are against LEGAL immigration? And why is it "either legally or illegally"? Hm?

What a damned tool.

Quit paying Americans to not work, and after the first few get shot in the riots, Americans will be begging for jobs that Americans just won't do.

End welfare now. The end of free paychecks will induce a NEED to work.

Also, it is a myth that legalizing the illegal immigrants will put an end to illegal immigration.

The need is low cost workers. After a few years, you can MOVE UP in your field. If you are legal, you have no obstacles to getting a job elsewhere. Which means a need to get more low cost laborers until they become educated and skilled enough to move on to something else here...

Keeping them as non-resident laborers means their time here is to be LIMITED, not permanent.

Used to be that there used to be pride in working a blue collar / brown collar job, this pride was destroyed by the “oh so great society” of the 60’s. The Lib elite would say that it is better to work in a desk job or a starving artist than it is to scrub floors for a living. There used to be many more native born Janitors in this country. But when it became easier to collect a check from the government to scrub floors, well that kinda went to pot.

My Grandfather worked many of the so called “jobs americans don’t want to do”. And he was frugal with his earnings and was able to buy a house for him and my grandma.

It seems the libs weather they like it or not want to encourge the creation of a a socio-economical lower class in the form of “cheap illegal alien fraudulent labour”.

The current situation poisons the well for those on welfare to get off of it as well.

How does a welfare recipient get a job if they are being undercut by sub-minimum wage labour.

Ruben Navarrette Jr. = Traitorous Tool

Ruben, you ignorant slut...

In my life I have mowed lawns, cut brush, shoveled snow, unplugged toilets, took on plumbing tasks including pipe fitting, repaired sewer lines, cleaned air conditioning units, dug ditches, added on porches, repaired roofs, helped tear down old buildings, fed and took care of livestock, cleaned out and changed the hay in chicken coops, milked cows, cut weeds, drove a tractor (at five) during hay season, delivered newspapers... and oh yes, all this by the time I was fourteen. Don’t tell me what Americans won’t do you disgusting piece of s—t.

In many regions of our nation, youth are no longer able to develop a list of neighbor’s lawns they can cut to make money. They can’t go clear brush. They can’t go get a job at the local fast food restaurant.

Their parents can’t get jobs in construction, housekeeping, restaurants, and other service sector related positions.

Right now we have at least ten million U.S. Citizens out of work, and they are having to compete with the citizens of our favorite leach nation, Mexico.

F U and the lizard you rode in on.

If you think that’s bad, I heard yesterday that people making up to $50 thousand dollars per year, will have to pay no income taxes under certain circumstances. $50K!!!!

When I was trying to raise kids on two thirds of that, there was nobody sobbing over my plight. And frankly, there shouldn’t have been.

I believe Reuben. I think he's describing his attitude very honestly. He's not describing any of US, but I'm pretty sure that he is indeed exactly this type.

[. . .we need to be absolutely clear about why the United States has so much illegal immigration in the first place.]

We could start with the fact that Mexico is ruled like a fiefdom by an oligarchy that encompasses major land holdings, industrial monopolies, federal-state-local government, the army, police and organized crime. This greedy over class has turned the U.S. into a jobs and welfare program for their poor and unwanted population. Illegal workers in the U.S. wire transfer millions of dollars in earnings back to Mexico daily.

If there were not a plum American market for illegal drugs there would be no reason for cross-border drug smuggling from Mexico.
If Mexico were not controlled by a cliche of selfish sh*tbags that stifle entrepreneurship, discourage foreign investment and maintain official corruption as a national institution, a free market could create jobs for all.

“Why work a low paying job when you can do just as well on government handouts?”

It’s not all government handouts. Coddling parents don’t help either, nor do other forms of family “enablers.” Teen unemployment rate is 20% (1.5 million total unemployed). Black teen unemployment rate is double that (300,000 unemployed). So is the unemployment rate for black males 20 and over (most of whom would be ineligible for welfare but who may well find ways to shack up with women or family members; 1.1 million).

In short, there’s at least 3 million such individuals who in theory could do the unskilled work now performed by illegal immigrants, but for whatever reason elect to be unemployed instead. I think there’s little doubt that the work ethic is not what it once was in this country. But I also think the exercise of a little ‘tough love’ would do wonders to rectify the situation.

Well I can say that in the days that I worked for someone else I always did more than I was paid for. I figured that was the way up. Doing only what is required of you keeps your job but not much else.

Yeah, sure. It has absolutely nothing in the world to do with their country of origin. I don’t know about everyone else, but I can’t go a day without calling up some other country and demanding the services of their citizens and ensuring they’ll get free health care, education, ad nauseum when they arrive.

It’s OK for an Hispanic advocate to praise their fellow Hispanics on how great their skin color and/or heritage/ethnicity makes them in a particular area, and no one will say “that’s racist” or whatever the ethnic equivalent of that phrase is ... in fact, when they display their racial/ethnic superiority and bigotry they get praised and printed up in major periodicals and quoted in the mainstream news. Thanks CNN for patting Ruben on the head and letting him vent his racist spleen. Attaboy Ruben!

Morgantown! Home of one of the biggest federal earmark boondoggles in history: a PRT system that cost nearly 10 times its original budget and to this day has to be subsidized to the tune of 40% to break even. I’m sure Senator Byrd is very proud of his ability to leverage so much federal dough into a single city. Let me guess: the homeless get to ride free?
