TOKYO (AP) -- A female knuckleball pitcher from Japan will be playing for a minor league team in the United States.
Eri Yoshida, an 18-year-old pitcher who played pro ball in Japan last year, signed with the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League. The team said she will report to spring training next month.

never achieves the majors, she has the fortitude

Anyone remember the Colorado Silver Bullets? Not based in Colorado but in Atlanta, sponsored by Coors Light. Managed by Phil Niekro. They went around playing minor league teams, and usally lost, but it was fun to watch.
She’s only 5 feet tall. Her pitches are gonna look really strange from the batter’s viewpoint.
This looks to be independent league rather than true minor league ball, so it’s not like she’s on a stepping stone to the majors.
