Show some mercy

Following three months of harassment by fellow students at South Hadley High School, student Phoebe Prince committed suicide. Prince’s reported “bullycide” has brought national scrutiny on the quiet suburban town of South Hadley and provoked a lawsuit against the students involved in the bullying. The prosecution announced on Monday that nine South Hadley students were being indicted on felony charges in the case of Prince’s death.

The charges against the students are part of an anti-bullying movement in the state that began following the suicide of Springfield student Carl Walker last year.

The students who bullied Phoebe Prince should be punished. No one is questioning this. But I have to wonder what the endgame is. Are Massachusetts officials really seeking justice for Phoebe, or are they trying to protect our state’s reputation?

...And the parents.

We also need to encourage a culture where kids will physically harm anyone that is a ‘bully’ to them. We have gotten to a point in our culture where we encourage taking too much shit off of people, and that’s dangerous.

If one of my kids get bullied at school, I’ll punish them if they don’t punch the bully in the face until they can’t anymore.

The kids, the teachers, the principal, and the parents of the teenage sadists. All have Phoebe's blood on their hands.

I agree with you,in this case i believe they had just moved from Ireland and got bullied constantly she is white so it was not racism...
In some articles the teachers turned a blind eye to what was going on..
Yeah if my kid is pushed around i would expect the same thing..

I agree, but the teachers seem to be handcuffed to do much these days. An old school chum and I were discussing this the other day.

We had a gym teacher in middle school who would get you out of the water in swimming, make you stand grabbing your ankles at the edge of the deep end ... and I mean smack you on your wet rear end with a wood paddle the woods shop teacher made for him - hard enough to knock you in and leave your rear red for dunking other kids. In high school, one of our football coaches broke up a fight in the cafeteria between two hippies by grabbing both of them by their long hair and slamming their heads together - repeatedly.

Sigh ... the good old days. They’d be arrested today and lose their jobs.

LOL..
I was taught by the Christian Brothers in Ireland they did not take any crap you break the rules, you had to hold out your hand and you got 5 or 10 of the best with a 1/4 inch thick leather strap...On cold days when your hands are numb from the cold and you turn up 5 mins late for school, very painful....
I told my Father once (while he was reading a book)teacher smacked me today cause i was late for school,”well if you turn up on time he won’t smack you”....
How can you argue with that?

I don't give a whit about the motivations of these "officials," as long as justice gets done.

Well I hope every last one of these little snots go to prison and get bullied in there by the real pro’s. It’ll serve them right. Hope the parents feel the financial pinch of hiring bottom feeder lawyers to defend these little bystards and the school officials that couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything for that beautiful child be revisited by the DA!

“Sigh ... the good old days.”

60 years ago in school if you cut up in gym class the gym teacher would make you take off your tennis shoe drop your shorts, grab your ankels nad beat the crap out of you with your shoe.

When our son was 4, his teacher told us he was being bullied by older kids. One night he was having nightmares about someone on top of him. When I asked his teacher the next day if it was this bad, she said yes. I immediately reported her and took him from the school. If you can’t have your child safe in school, where will he be safe.

Did these bullies show mercy to their victim?

They didnt even show remorse. That’s what really angered the community. They were even insulting her after her death.

The judge even had to order them to stay away from the family.
