China Turns Up the Heat
Air Force Magazine ^ | 4/1/2010 | Richard Halloran

About 25 years ago, an American intelligence officer was asked how far the Chinese could project military power. His terse answer: “About as far as their army can walk.”

Today, that statement is most assuredly no longer true.

China has accomplished perhaps the most remarkable expansion of military power since the US geared up for World War II. In the last 15 years it has deployed nuclear and conventional missiles that can reach US forces from the western Pacific to Washington, D.C.

China’s military is also assembling a set of capabilities designed to avoid or offset traditional US advantages. This is sometimes referred to as a high-end asymmetric threat. Specifically, the Chinese are assembling a cyber apparatus intended to gather intelligence from US telecommunications and, if hostilities erupt, to close down US electronic communications and computers.

Beijing has fielded an array of advanced jet aircraft, anti-aircraft missiles, radar, anti-air and anti-submarine ships, and minelayers intended to deny US air and naval forces access to Chinese skies and waters.

The Chinese have started building a blue-water Navy capable of projecting power toward Alaska, toward Guam and Hawaii, and particularly to patrol the sea-lanes in the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean. This expansion has been fueled by the surging Chinese economy that has provided double-digit annual increases in Beijing’s military budgets.

Goos article.

In the near future, we’re going to be in a “Guns or Butter” situation.

National defense is going to suffer disasterously.

We gave it all to them in every way imaginable. Trade deals, a corrupt president/politicians, and apathy in general among our population.

We’ll deserve whatever we get from them, and when it happens, we should decorate lamp posts with those at the highest levels of our government and business that sold us out.

blue water navy? Yes maybe, but they will rely chiefly on new ASBM’s to attack our carriers.

Thanks to the Clinton admin, they can launch a missile into orbit, and then instead of coming down on a land target, instead it attacks and destroys a carrier, or carrier battle group.

Their objective is to avoid fighting the US on equal terms; they intend to push out out to the “second island ring” from China —a pretty long way.

They want to kick us off Okinawa and get us back to Guam —no bases in the western Pacific.

That’s it in a nutshell. They will not succeed in 1 year or 3, but after that their odds of success go up dramatically. In 10 years they will have done it, and bye-bye Taiwan. Also by then I expect Japan will have announced that they have nuclear weapons.

There are too many scenarios to contemplate. The US could be rendered a real “Paper Tiger” with another 9-11 timed to take place in conjunction with a major quake in Calif. or in the New Madrid fault area.

you have to ask, what is their motive to project so much military power? Maybe they fear the expansion of American communism?

Their new ASBM is based on the DF-21 missile and will also contain manoeuvrable reentry vehicles (MaRVs) with some kind of terminal guidance system. This would be the world’s first and only ASBM and the world’s first weapons system capable of targeting a moving aircraft carrier strike group from long-range, land-based mobile launchers.

“highest levels of our government and business that sold us out.”

That would be Bill Clinton and Loral CEO Bernard Schwartz.
They gave them the radiation hardened chips for guidance and MIRV applications.

Did it in a test/show off opportunity in China. The launch happened and when it went bad and the rocket came down in China, the ChiComs would not let the U.S. engineers recover it. When our folks got to the missile reentry vehicle the chip was gone.

Nice job Bill.

“Maybe they fear the expansion of American communism?”

Yeah, that has got to be it.

probably forgotten by most is the fact a company named LORAL SPACE, the largest single contributor to Bill Clinton was permitted to sell technology to the CHICOMS which enabled them to better target their missiles and also increase the throw weight of them. This technology was sold AGAINST the wish of the pentagon, State Dept, CIA, NSA and so forth because they knew it would allow the Chinese to advance their technology from 15-20 years immediately.

LORAL SPACE and it’s owner BERNIE SCHWARZ were fined $14 million for this while admitting no wrongdoing.

Go here

“Hughes notwithstanding, there is ample evidence that American technology was transferred to this hostile potential enemy of the United States and that the vast experience of some of our best aerospace engineers provided the Communist Chinese the guidance needed to upgrade and perfect highly sophisticated weapons systems, increasing the reliability and capability of Communist Chinese rockets. This has given what anyone has to admit is at least a potential enemy of the United States, a better ability to deliver nuclear warheads to our country, to American cities, to incinerate millions of our people.

Did the Communist Chinese have that capability before? Yes, they did, minimally, have that capability. Perhaps they could have gotten a rocket to us. But now, thanks to American know-how, given them by American aerospace companies, their rockets are more accurate and are more reliable, and now their rockets can kill more than one nuclear warhead, and this, thanks to American know-how.

I expected, after my first speech on this issue, that the companies in question would protest that I was wrong, that my fears were unfounded, that my sources had exaggerated the damage being done to our security. That has not been the case. The dangers to our country may, in fact, have been understated. Since disclosing the limited information I uncovered, there have been several hearings in the House and in the Senate looking into this horrific possibility that the money that we Americans spent developing technology to defend us ended up perfecting Communist Chinese rockets, and in the House, a select committee of nine distinguished Members has been appointed. Under the leadership of the gentleman from California (Mr. Cox), this select committee is now organizing its efforts to thoroughly investigate the situation.

One of the executives in question is Bernard Schwartz of Loral. Schwartz was hell-bent to sell an arsenal of high-tech weapons to the Communist Chinese, weapons that would have put tens of thousands of American military personnel in jeopardy, our military personnel, our sons and daughters on our ships or in our airplanes. In any future confrontation between the United States and China, our military people would have been put in jeopardy of being shot out of the air, blown out of the water, and murdered by Communist Chinese who are being armed with technology that was developed by the United States for our own defense.

China has accomplished perhaps the most remarkable expansion of military power since the US geared up for World War II.

Thus the USA cannot afford to entrust its safety or survival to Democrats, commies, muzzies, or RINOs, or any other type of traitor.

And China is not the only potential threat to the USA.
