In a year when America's tea party activists have been surging, cable news networks that slam the grassroots movement have been dying in the ratings. Is it merely coincidence? As widely reported, 2010's first quarter ratings for cable news networks were released earlier this month. Compared to the numbers in 2009, Fox News Channel, frequently reported as a favorite of the tea partiers, actually gained 3 percent over last year's numbers, but MSNBC, whose left-leaning commentary has been far more critical of the movement, has dropped 15 percent of its audience.
Even more startling, however, is the ratings freefall of the former news giant CNN, whose viewing audience has been sliced by 39 percent. ...

I’m having a hard time mustering any sympathy for those socialists... Nope, I got nothin’.
My feeeeeeeeeelings are on break.
Never, ever, never watch the MSM anymore. Once they joined the Obama campaign team they lost me...and a lot of others too.
Those networks have been so obviously, and transparently, and shamelessly, and disingenuously participating in an Obama slobberfest since he first became a candidate, that all their viewers with a few working brains remaining reached a point where they couldn’t take it any more. And those networks have continued in the same vein and transferred their same mindless, dishonest reporting to the Tea Party movement because it challenges their man Obama in many ways.
They have become so disgusting, few can still stomach them.
I do not have time to turn on the tv and be insulted.
I gave up ALL tv two years ago. Don’t miss it a bit. Between the Internet and the radio I stay pretty well informed.
My guess is that if they were to poll those who have dropped CNN, Independents would be a very high percent.
Slobberfest!!!! Ha Ha. Needed a chuckle. Now it is Hate Speech and Violence....They are sick.
What? No re-runs of The L-Word? LOL!
How’s that Hopey Changy working out for you Omedia?
Pray for America
You know, for all these a-holes who think they are such wits for calling us “teabaggers” I’d say I would rather be the teabagger than the teabaggee.
And they call us homophobes when they think calling someone a homo is a putdown.
Pray for America
I literally cannot stand the obvious bias in favor of socialism, pervert rights nor have any interest in mindless sitcoms all featuring a very skewed cast.
Internet, then radio, then local newspapers suffice as news sources for me.
Crap News Network is an unbiased farce.
They won’t ever say (a) anything positive about conservatives or (b) anything negative about leftists or Democrats. Ever.
As far as serious news organizations go, CNN is a one-sided joke. And its failure can’t come soon enough to anyone who really cares about media objectivity.
Ain't life getting grand?
Only time I watch the network news is at night for 10 min to catch the weather. I don't trust them for anything else.
Yes well it seems that they have chosen their side so now they must face the consequences.
tea-hee!
People leave CNN and MSNBC because these networks don’t tell the truth. People watch news to see what’s going on, not to see only what a small group of people want them to see.
People aren’t that stupid, it’s the small group of people who run these networks who are stupid, and can’t figure out why there viewership is plummeting. I pity the fool! (not)
“MSNBC, whose left-leaning commentary has been far more critical of the movement, has dropped 15 percent of its audience.”
You can only listen to so much hate.
CNN, Anderson Vanderbilt Cooper..GO SUCK A TEABAG.
I bitched at the time about what a foolish mission the switch to digital TV was, but no more. I bought a converter for my boob tube but it was a piece of junk and only gave me a fraction of what was available before. Then it quit altogether. Since then I have been blissfully television free.
I can still catch the salient portions of news online and without supporting the Government Owned Media.
I’m glad that they didn’t think this thing through!
BFD.......................
Ditto me, except I gave it up over ten years ago. I don't have a working television in my house and don't miss it a bit.
Well the cartoon network makes a heck of a lot more sense than MSNBC and CNN combined.
Calling your viewers and their family members, the vulgar homosexual term ‘teabaggers’ seemed sooo funny to them at the time. Accusing them of being racists, Having congress members on to call the American citizenry names and accuse them, seemed cool at the time.
WE SURROUND THEM.
Take the Hill, starve, repeal and replace the bill.
I occasionally watch a show on Syfy or maybe one of the other channels, but my TV’s been mostly off since about 1999...TV is a good addiction to break.
tea-hee!
CNN’s Larry King, however, has slipped to No. 16 in the rankings, drawing only 655,000 viewers, or less than half of what O’Reilly draws for late-night reruns.....
HEHEHEHHEHE!!!!!!!!!!

Watch the youtube clip. I would’ve blown my top. I’m glad I wasn’t there.
L-word: more proof that TV today, with the exception of Fox News and the occasional middle-of-the-road documentary on PBS, has no redeeming value. TV makes idiots.
I enjoy imagining that the reason is deeper than that; and hope there’s something to it. Maybe it’s possible that people have more knowledge and a broader perspective now because of the Internet. So, they see the shallowness and stupidity of CNN, MSNBC, etc. Also - I think CNN has gotten worse over the years. Not that they were ever great. MSNBC - not sure if that was ever anything.
Middle of the road documentary from PBS?
occasional middle of the road documentary from PBS.
Consequences...
