No. The real reason that the press follows the President is so that they can be there to report on an repeat of the JFK or Reagan assaination(s)/attempts. There was no ‘protocol’ for the press to follow the President even in the eary FDR years. How do you think that FDR was able to maintain a mistress? JFK on the other hand had the press running ‘interference’ for his extramarital affairs...

Has he said one word (officially) about the Polish Presidential plane crash?
Maybe I missed it, but he should have been out there at the crack of dawn -- in a suit and tie -- expressing regret and support for the country of Poland and their mourning public.
I have seen no such video of this, because he has done no such thing. What a dickhead.
Correct me if I'm wrong (about the official statement, not about the last comment of my post.)

Nobody wins at soccer.
It's like that scene at the end of War Games. Where the computer (Hal? Joshua? I forget) tells Dr. Falken, "Strange game, Tic-Tac-Toe. The only way to win is not to play."
Besides they don't keep score at any kind of kids' games anymore. So it's a double exercise in fertility.
