Blocking ObamaCare Reminds Cokie Roberts of ‘First Step Toward the Civil War’
Newsbusters ^ | 4/12/10 | Brent Baker

On ABC’s This Week, when retired ABC newsman Sam Donaldson recommended that President Barack Obama nominate, to replace Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, someone who “is going to stand up for the principles – on the left, if you will – that he believes in,” Cokie Roberts jumped in: “I’m not so sure he is so far to the left.” Donaldson agreed: “Well, I’m not sure either.”

Minutes later, Roberts contended the efforts of state attorneys general, to get a federal court to rule unconstitutional ObamaCare’s requirement every citizen get health insurance, reminded her of the “nullification” which led to the Civil War:

You have these fourteen states attorneys general saying that they want to have the court overturn the recently passed health care law. I must say, I was just with my grand kids at Fort Sumter, and the notion of nullification made me extremely nervous because it was, of course, the first step toward the Civil War.

The feeble (bought and paid for) Cokie Roberts should have retired from the media scene twenty years ago. But, at least she can be depended upon to spew the inflamatory BS.

Under the word "shill" in the dictionary will be her mug.

Civil war is when citizens oppose fellow citizens. When citizens oppose the government, we call that revolution.

Cokie doesn't need to fear a civil war. But if the Democrats keep up this nonsense, rigging the game to impose their liberal wish list, Cokie can start fearing revolution. Soon. ------------ KC Mulville (Newsbuster comment)

I have not watched “This Week” in quite a few years and actually thought Miss Cokie had retired from ABC. She is one of those New Orleans liberals, and they are among the most committed people on earth.

I would think the hubris needed to bankrupt a country in the process of telling other people how to live would be the first step.

She ought to stick with NPR. The woman is the perfect example of what is wrong with D.C.

Nearly every member of her family for fifty years have been part of the liberal/communist lie machine.

Obviously, Glenn Beck’s educational series on American history is sending the talking heathens back to the books... to equate the TEA movement and opposition to confiscation of property & rights with support of slavery.

If they had any intellect whatsoever, they would acknowledge that Obama is intending to enslave all citizens- with the Federal Government as the single, omnipotent plantation owner.

One more example of how the MSM misunderestimates the common sense of the American people.
