This is just payback for blindly supporting everything obama; except obama was expecting the government influenced media to cover-up and look the other way during his re-election. He wanted them to at least have the appearance of independence. But once they receive paychecks from the government even the leftist will know that the DNC is the editor in chief.

But the biggest question they have to ask themselves is, what good is getting government money to stay in business to just support the government, WHEN NO ONE WILL READ THE DRIVEL?
What difference does it make to them? We all would end up paying for their "news" paper whether we want to or not.

I like Breitbart's comment to one of the MSMers (paraphrased) It's not your business model that sucks, it's you that suck.

This describes the editor of my local paper perfectly -- he frequently prints vile, venom-filled "guest columns" by a couple of our local communist/progressive creatures. I believe to print all that rabid hatred without any balancing material reveals his true personality.

"...5,900 full-time newspaper journalism jobs disappeared last year..."

I guess there really is a silver lining in every cloud.

Separation of Press and State!!

nothing makes my day like getting a junk-mail solicitation from the New York Times with a pre-paid reply envelope included....

I LOVE THOSE THINGS!! Somehow I got onto a lefty mailing list somewhere. Being a good environmentally conscious steward of the earth I enclose most of their paper back in theri pre-paid envelope and send it back to them. (nothing with my name on it of course)

I almost didn’t pass the “great journalism” remark.
Wow, thats all we need government-funded daily papers in every city. Not that they would act any differently than they do now.
The only way to attempt objectivity is to declare all your own interests up front.

Journalism's interests are in bad news.

Bad news interests the public but is not "in the public interest," obviously.

Journalism claims to be objective, which is the opposite of disclosing reasons why it might not be objective.

It follows that journalism makes no real attempt at objectivity.

The good news is they now have some old phone books from far away places. (^;
