Why of course they do.
The Catholic Church should excommunicate the University of Notre Dame, because they clearly abandoned Christian values long ago.
Is there anything I can do to encourage them to really show their support through a “Year Of Silence?”...;)
It is kinda difficult to speak when your mouth is full............
Day of Silence? The queers are finally going to STFU for a while?
ND alumni are urged to continue their own protests, “Checkbooks of Absence; Wallets of Emptiness.”
I say a group should go sit on the quad and bang pots all day to make noise.
Don’t ask, don’t tell.
Alumni are embarassed about this; I certainly am. Not as embarrased as we were about the 2007 ND Football season (Wins: 3 Losses: 9), but pretty embarrassed.
I can tell you it was still a Catholic school for the most part in 1987, Hesburg’s last year, but the PC was a-creepin’ in.

Nicely done.
May I add:
Endowments of Null.
Legacies of Zero.
I think the leaders at Notre Dame need to read their bibles and quit PCing.
Obama is America’s punishment.
for the sin of voting for Obama.
The university system has been the ruination of America. Look at all the “great” universities. They were established to teach godly values, yet they have all descended to teaching hedonism.
The Catholic Church should force the University of Notre Dame to change it’s name.
It is an insult to Our Lady to have her name associated with such a place.
Right ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shut up and go away . Good idea .
You don't, however, seem to understand what excommunication is, nor what sort of institution is Notre Dame.
The two most relevant points are: (1) only an individual can be excommunicated; and (2) Notre Dame is separately owned and operated corporation, not owned nor operated either by the Catholic Diocese of South Bend nor even by the religious order that founded it, the CSC (Holy Cross fathers). It passed into essentially secularized ownership some 40 years ago. For what it's worth, its constitution and by-laws say it's supposed to uphold the Catholic faith. But there's no institutional enforcement mechanism except, really, public opinion: so good luck with that.
I'm not trying to be evasive here. I'd be thrilled to see Rev. Kevin C. Rhoades (who was just newly installed as Bishop this January) speak out strongly about it, whether he has any direct authority over the University or not.
On the other hand, a "Day of Silence" for homosexual activists is, in its way, something that has its own appeal--- especially if extended for as long as possible.
Good one.
Notre LAME.
