Report: Attack on Jindal Aide and Boyfriend Politically Motivated (Beaten for wearing Palin buttons)
Tuesday, April 13, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/13/2010 8:47:27 AM PDT by kristinn

Joe Brown and Allee Bautsch

Allee Bautsch, chief campaign fundraiser for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and her boyfriend Joe Brown, were savagely beaten Friday night in New Orleans after leaving a Republican party fundraising dinner by a group of thugs who reportedly targeted the couple because they were wearing Sarah Palin pins.

Bautch's leg was broken and Brown incurred a broken jaw and nose as well as a concussion.

The Hayride reports that a source who visited Bautsch at the hospital the day after the attack says they were told the couple was attacked for wearing Palin buttons:

Two people at the Brennan’s event have now confirmed that the protest had largely broken up by the time it ended, but we also understand from someone who visited Allee Bautsch in the hospital Saturday morning that she and Brown were followed and attacked expressly because they had Palin pins on (she heard one of the attackers say “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on” – so the attack WAS politically motivated as its victims understood it. It was not a mugging, it was not an argument gone wrong and it was not a bar fight.

The story of a Republican and her boyfriend being viciously attacked for wearing Palin buttons has yet to make national headlines, unlike say, unfounded rumors of nasty words being said by Tea Party protesters.

Anything on Fox? If it's been released to the press as that link indicates, Fox should be on top of it. (I don't have the TV on).

I haven't heard Rush mention it either.

It appears that the Governor’s office is being very careful in its statements. At this point, there seems to be scarcely any corroboration from an authoritative source. If the stories are true, local talk-radio will pick it up.

Unfortunately, the local police has been under a lot of deserved criticism lately. As a result, they will be reluctant to involve themselves unless the evidence is rock-solid. Even then, the Chief of Police is on his way out, and may well decide it’s not worth the grief.

Nothing on FNC or Rush. I think both are waiting for the NOPD’s formal announcement. I hope Hannity goes with the story.

Thanks for letting us know.

i am waiting to be run off the road for having my sarah sticker and a couple others

It has happened to me a couple of times. Two rather large mannish looking women slowed down by my car as I was wheeling my groceries toward it and I overheard them say "lets wait for the SOB" I called out and identified myself as the "SOB you have been waiting for" and they took off.

I hope the people who did this are punished and pray that the victims gain strength from this hideous event.

Outside Brennan’s? Really? That place is a very short half-block away from the police station. Nervy little bastards, aren’t they?

Are there any security cams along that stretch of Bourbon Street that might have caught this action? You'd think that with the proximity of the police station there might be?

I agree with what you're saying. As a general rule Urban PD's are very concerned with keeping tourist areas as safe as they can. They don't always succeed, but it is always at the top of the list of priorities.

Anyone seen the comments to the Times-Picayune article that was posted here? Apparently, some stupid ass denizens of New Orleans think it’s real funny that these two got beaten up - one with a broken leg.

New Orleans appears to be a criminal dump, and the people of this country have done enough to “rebuild” it. New Orleans can rebuild itself, just like every city has after a natural disaster.

I do, however, feel sorry for citizens of New Orleans who have to put up with this abysmal crap.

My only fear is this may turn out to be like the chick who claimed Obama people cut her face, then admitted she faked the attack.

A broken leg, broken nose and jaw to fake such a thing exhibits a level of commitment rarely seen. I tend to doubt it.

New Orleans can rebuild itself, just like every city has after a natural disaster.

To this day, many republicans, in their zeal to bash democrats and defend Bush, refuse to concede that the response to Katrina was a failure at all levels of government. In addition, they refuse to admit or recognize the Army Corps of Engineers' culpability for this disaster. People need to understand that in New Orleans, Katrina was never a natural disaster, but a man-made one.

It is certainly well within the realm of possibility, given the left’s noted PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome), but “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on” ? Really?

I dunno, I’s getting that same uncertain feeling I did following the famous “B Girl” incident in 2008.

To add: clearly a crime took place. Whether or not the perps said, ‘they’re wearing Palin pins, let’s get them’ is another thing altogether. Just like freepers questioned the N word being used a few weeks ago at a rally, we should also apply same caution here.

So there is no responsibility on the part of the State of Louisiana or the people of New Orleans to make preparations, respond to warnings and otherwise look after their own welfare and safety, eh?

Sorry. Not buying. Go peddle it somewhere else.

I don't think the fear is that they weren't really beaten up - they clearly were.

The thing you need to be wary of is that they were not quite the innocent victims of the beatdown that the first version of the story would lead you to believe.

To be clear, I am absolutely not implying that that is the case here, but you can get burned reacting to a victim's story only to later find out that there was more to be told about the incident.

Michelle Malkin has also reported on it just now - she also includes a cautionary note just to make sure this is in fact a politically motivated beating and she does write about the possibility that the Palin pins could have been true but at this time it is not fact.

http://michellemalkin.com/2010/04/13/a-cautionary-note-about-the-beating-in-new-orleans/

The more this is tweeted, blogged about, etc. we can get some answers and maybe somebody from the despicable MSM will investigate!

Here is the statement from the Governor’s Office, via Press Secretary Kyle Plotkin. He just now returned my email asking about The Hayride story. It is the same statement from yesterday.

Here was my email to him:

Kyle,

This story is going viral on the web as we speak. Do you have any information on this?

The Brennan’s Beatdown: Piecing Together A Story (Updated, 9:50 a.m.)

His reply:

“Friday night, the Governor’s campaign fundraiser, Allee Bautsch, and her boyfriend were involved in an altercation in the French Quarter with a group of people.

While there were protestors around at that time, we are not aware of any evidence that the individuals involved in the altercation were protestors.

Allee’s leg was badly broken in the incident, she has had surgery, and she is facing a recovery time of two to three months. Her boyfriend had a concussion, and also a fractured nose and jaw. They are both expected to fully recover.

NOPD is investigating the incident and we are refraining from further comment to allow them to fully investigate and ensure justice is done. Our prayers are with Allee. She is a strong person and we are sure she will make a speedy recovery.”

Are you really going to take time to aim a third shot to the head when a mob is coming at you?

Point well taken; need knockdown power so even a not-so-well placed shot takes the assailant out of the fight. After the rest start running, you can follow up on whoever's still wigglin'.

Meanwhile, the nonexistent “epithets” hurled at a bunch of Democrats are front page news.

My thoughts exactly... You have an orchestrated event where the media and congress-critters decided to try smearing the attendees of a Tea Party event, yet with overwhelming media attendance (cameras and tape recorders) not a single documented example of the accused smears could be found. But in this case, you have 2 people hospitalized, yet nothing in the media.

BOR claims that the media is corrupt. He's right on this case.

Please listen. That is exactly what they are trying to incite...revolution. That is the only way Obama gets total power. Marshal law...through violent upheaval. Done in every islamic fight, all through Africa....check it out. Also, every communist state.

For now, we need to keep our heads, and fight legally, and without violence.

Additionally, as Jindal will be competing with Palin for the GOP nomination, why would his senior fundraiser be wearing a Palin button?

He may have made his decision not to run, or he hired her for her talent and ability rather than for her political reliability.
