WASHINGTON (AFP) – Apollo 11 hero Neil Armstrong Tuesday lashed out at President Barack Obama's decision to axe NASA plans to return to the Moon, describing the move as "devastating" to the US space program.

Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the lunar surface, was one of three former astronauts who signed an open letter to Obama ahead of his visit to Florida on Thursday where he will deliver a space policy speech.

In some ways, they have. When they put up the long duration Salyut and MIR space stations, that was seen as a way to long term spaceflight, something we need when we go out to Mars and beyond although you would also need artificial gravity too but you can make a wheel and spin it to create that since the human body does need gravity to insure good bone health. Also with the Russians being not as technically advanced as we are they did very well with less. IT is like we spent millions to make a pen that writes in zero gravity, the Russian solution was to use a pencil.

Has anyone noticed anything that was developed by descendants or emigrants of Europe is now being destroyed or devalued? The whole power/auto industries, were all given to us by titans like Edison and Ford and engine advancements by Richardo etc. In the space programs it was the Germans that came here that helped springboard us. Any industry (including Space) that is white and nerdy (Thank You Weird Al" Yankovic) is being destroyed or will suplanted as the assets are devalued or destroyed by convoluted schemes. Those that hold equity in these systems (Grandma's Utility Stocks) will be wiped out as it is replaced with a "new" industry in our dear leaders image....
