The problem with ANYTHING the government runs, administers, or controls is that how resources are distributed becomes a political and ideological equation, not one based on consumer choice and a free market.
Beyond the stifling of initiative, creativity, competition, and the lack of focus on the customer/consumer and efficiency, governments typically end up allocating resources based on what best serves there political end. They end up managing through bureaucracy, they are large and process thinking and overlook the uniqueness and individuality in needs, bloated, slow, and reactive they are hardly the gold standard in anything they run. However, when an issue becomes politically loaded, then they will over react. After 9-11 the spouses of victims, in the 90s when sexual trauma was a big deal, after the first Gulf War when Gulf War Syndrome became a big media and political issue, then the politician will completely over react, throwing themselves out in front of the issue. Apparently this is how America wants it's health care run.
But at least there is an upside. I won't need to worry about much anymore. Standardized and regulated, the American health Care system will soon appear as private entities while in reality those with the power are government panels and regulatory committees that will define nearly every aspect of health care. From what, when, at what cost, to where will be regulated. Those who shrink at the thought of self determinism, who fear the consequences of their decisions or lack thereof, they will have their hand held by a nanny state. We have traded freedom for perceived security. The moochers, the ones looking for a free hand out at other peoples expense, they might make out as we “spread the wealth.” The hard core statist, the ones that see merit in centralization of systems and throwing all this power into the hands of a few, the ones who have a pseudo elitist view of society where the “masses” are stupid and not rational and need told what to do, they too will see current events in a positive light. Almost everyone you talk too that supports national health care falls in one of or a combination of these three groups: The mental midget/wimp, moocher, or statist.
Maybe the fairest way to deal with this is to insist that White people die sooner?
There are two ways to accomplish this: 1) improve the average health of minorities, or 2) reduce the average health of whites.
