The NYT couldn't find their @ss with both hands and a rear-view mirror...

The TEA party movement has been explained, and explained, and explained...but they somehow cannot put T.E.A. and "Taxed Enough Already" together.

That tells you how poorly they must do on those relationship apptitude tests that a lot of employers are giving these days.

It's about taxation, just like the original TEA party was, however, since its inception, obama has thrown so much other $#!+ out there, that now it is also about FREEDOM and saving the Constitution.

The NYT and their fellow socialists are making it about "class"; poor things are suffering from "inferior group complex" and are extremely envious of anyone who looks better, has more money, drives a bigger car, sings better, or has less moles on their butts.

This ISN'T about class...some of the best and most patriotic people I know are poor...class has nothing to do with FREEDOM - hop in the DeLorean and go back to the slave days on the "underground railroad" and ask them if they would give up their newfound freedom to take a step up in class.

Here's the thing, if obama gets his way and we become a socialist nation, then we are a UNION...as in SOVIET UNION. Everyone will be the same, EQUALLY POOR. The only ones who will win are the obama gang. It works just like a labor union, you chase the carrot they dangle over your head while they drive beside you in a limo.

I like the old "crabs in a bucket" example; if you fill up a bucket with crabs, they will climb over each other trying to get out, and when one finally makes it to the rim of the bucket, the others will pull him back trying to climb over him. That's what getting out of obama's socialist world will resemble...nobody gets ahead, but the "swells".

As far as the hyphenated bitch to wrote the article goes, she's crazier than a three-headed jackass and like most liberal journalist, turns her own views into "straw men" to use for examples for us "clingers" to follow. eff her.

Tea party supporters are “more well-educated than the general public.”

True, just surprising the NYT said it. There goes your stereotype, libs, that tea parties are all uneducated rednecks.

and their strong opposition to the Obama administration is more rooted in political ideology than anxiety about their personal economic situation,

When upper and upper-middle class people support liberal causes, it's because they are "selfless" and "care about others."

Conservatives who get politically active do so because of "political ideology."

The only way class fits into it is that those of us who are truck drivers and teachers would love to attend, but Tea Party events almost always occur on week-days during working hours. Instead, I’m planning on making a couple phone calls to Congress tomorrow on my break.

It’s like the pro-life demonstrations that usually occur in the grip of winter on days when we need to work (dumb, dumb, dumb).

majority of Tea Party supporters say Mr. Obama does not share the values most Americans live by,

And they are correct. His ascention to the throne was made possible by lying. Most Americans detest a liar. "Anyone making less than $250 thousand per year will not pay a dime in increased taxes." Bite me.

He's the stupidest Affirmative Action Hire this country will ever have to endure and makes J.Carter look like a genius by comparison. At least Jimmy could build a rocking chair. And his brother Billy would have been a lot more fun at that 'beer summit'.

Jimmy gave us Reagan, Bush gave us Obama. The Tea Party wants to put an end to this nonsense and give us America, finally. Americans want America back from the dickheads who stole her. They don't care which party is at fault- they know we shall not stand if we continue with this nonsense, and they know the remedy. It's been staring us in the face for over 200 years.

Washington D.C. has been teabagging Americans for many years and yet, the Left tries to lable the Tea Party with such a disgusting act. Well, they must like it as they want to defend more of it, but Partiers are sick of it and November, if it were a decent month, would get here tomorrow.

If it wasn’t for the homeless needing something to sleep on, NYT would not have much circulation left.

The article does not explain their poll (surprise!!). Did they interview real Tea Party people, people who simply said they were part of the Tea Party, or just anyone who would talk to them?

BTW, love how the Slimes end the article: "I think I changed my mind (from being a Tea Partier)."

...and the [TEA party] conviction that the policies of the Obama administration are disproportionately directed at helping the poor rather than the middle class or the rich.

Ah. They're angry, and the reason that they're angry is that the government is trying to help the poor, not trying to help the rich. Got it. Now please direct me to the cliff I'm supposed to jump off of.

We are angry because Congress is ignoring the will of the people and destroying our country by spending us into oblivion. Nobody wanted the stimulus bill and they passed it anyway. Majority against health care take over and they pass it anyway.

MSM, especially the NY TImes, don’t have a clue about the tea party. Yahoo article today was surprised that the movement started with Rick Santelli and not Sarah Palin. Clueless.

"...the conviction that the policies of the Obama administration are disproportionately directed at helping the poor rather than the middle class or the rich...."

They have this completely wrong. People who subscribe to the tenets of the Tea Party feel that the policies of this administration are going to HURT the poor AND the middle class AND the "rich" (whatever the hell "rich" means now).

Most people opposed to profligate spending and excessive taxation (Tea Party tenets) realize that those actions by the government will negatively impact the poor simply because of the impact they have on everyone else.
