>>Where was Blumenthal when this MASSIVE fraud was occurring in state and local govt?

Too busy going after local businesses and making sure the business climate in the state approached Castro-level intimidation.

He lives in Greenwich, though I agree he does seem more of a Westport sort.

Boy you “ain’t” kidding. Massive public union workers corruption but Blumenthal will put some kid in jail for a lemonade stand. “Castro-level intimidation” is so accurate.

It reminds me a little of the Howard Hughes movie where Leonardo DiCaprio played Hughes. He is visiting CT to meet Kate Hepburn’s family. They are a bunch of rich marxists who are condescending towards Hughes because he is an engineer who actually built things. They just could not comprehend what he did for a living.

Hughes was a bit kooky but that was probably due to plane accidents, pain killer drugs, possibly social diseases etc. The man did build incredible things including medical research companies, satellites and the list goes on and on.

Hepburn’s family are condescending and repulsive socialist WASPs. I was pretty amazed at Martin Scrosese and Leanardo’s depiction of her family because they are not conservatives. The film was only so so but that scene was amazing.

I would love to see Blumie debate Peter Schiff. Schiff is a great public speaker, smart as a whip and he is funny.

Blumenthal is like creepy Spitzer - good at being a thug at a podium in using the state to attack businesses and the little people.

I think he is venerable. McMahon and Schiff both oppose public funding for abortion but it is unfortunate that a real conservative isn’t running. Why do we return to the same model to win the NE when there is clearly and opening for something new? I like Schiff because regardless of the other issues he is someone we can trust and he is articulate and understands capitalism and doesn’t just weakly acknowledge it but defends it and the free market vociferously. We need more of that.

>>Blumenthal will put some kid in jail for a lemonade stand

So true!

“We will vigorously oppose any non-permitted lemonade stands. Such businesses endanger the health and well-being of CT residents, including the young proprietor in question. The Division of Family Services have been notified and are investigating criminal malfeasance by the child’s parental units.”

Meanwhile the Dept of Revenue Services loses a laptop on Long Island with 106K residents’ information, and Blumie runs deep and silent on the issue. Mum is the word when gov unions are involved.

Madoff was in NYC but one of his feeder buddies was in Greenwich. Feeder funds were companies that looked for investors and set up their own fund and Madoff would “manage” the money. They were promoters or middlemen.

There may have been a few in Greenwich but the Fairfield Greenwich Group run by Walter Noel a native of Nashville (?!). At one point they claimed to have $16 billion under management whihc is huge. In 2008 it was $14 billion. The Noel had these society daughters who married guys around the world who were connected and helped raise money.

The NY Post would have pics of the daughters. The daughters went to the best universities. Well today you would not want to be in the Noel clan.

The big joke is between Bernie in NYC and Greenwich was New City, NY where Madoff’s one man CPA worked out of a strip shopping center and he was never there. No one in Greenwich ever thought of jumping in the Range Rover and driving a few miles to New City. No one wanted to know the truth.

No one wanted to know the truth.

What an insightful summary!

Thanks. The truth would end the gravy train. Eventually it ended.

That's the thing about gravy trains. When they're brought to a sudden stop, they make a helluva mess...

Rumor I heard today is Simmons is going to drop out in favor of McMahon. In return, the establishment GOP will support him in an attempt to regain the second district U.S. House seat he lost in 2006.

This is a big screw you to the grass roots if true.

Simmons has a 53% lifetime American Conservative Union rating. He’s worthless on everything but defense.
