Recalling ’95 Bombing, Clinton Sees Parallels By CARL HULSE

WASHINGTON — With the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing approaching, former President Bill Clinton on Thursday drew parallels between the antigovernment tone that preceded that devastating attack and the political tumult of today, saying government critics must be mindful that angry words can stir violent actions.

In advance of a symposium on Friday about the attack on the Oklahoma City federal building and its current relevance, Mr. Clinton, who was in his first term at the time of the bombing, warned that attempts to incite opposition by demonizing the government can provoke responses beyond what political figures intend.

“There can be real consequences when what you say animates people who do things you would never do,” Mr. Clinton said in an interview, saying that Timothy McVeigh, who carried out the Oklahoma City bombing, and those who assisted him, “were profoundly alienated, disconnected people who bought into this militant antigovernment line.”

The former president said the potential for stirring a violent response might be even greater now with the reach of the Internet and other common ways of communication that did not exist on April 19, 1995, when the building was struck.

“Because of the Internet, there is this vast echo chamber and our advocacy reaches into corners that never would have been possible before,” said Mr. Clinton, who said political messages are now able to reach those who are both “serious and seriously disturbed.” He will be delivering the keynote address Friday at an event about the Oklahoma City attack being sponsored by the Center for American Progress Action Fund and the Democratic Leadership Council.

My memory may be failing me, but I thought
Billie Clinton burned down a church in Texas
with men, women and children in it just for
the fun of it.

It seems to me that he is a Mass Murderer.

The democrats are the party of abortion murder. They are doing their best to abort the Republic ... and I’m afraid they are going to succeed this time since they have successfully installed a non-Constitutionally eligible affirmative action sonofabitch in the Oval Office.

I love how protesting the goverment was “the most patriotic thing an American could do” during the 8 years of the Bush administration, but now it’s “dangerous rhetoric” again. The libs are against free speech, no question about it.

The 1993 attack by federal agents on the Branch Davidian compound near Waco pushed McVeigh toward thought of violent action against the United States government. He scheduled the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City for the date of the second anniversary of the government's assault near Waco.

No event did more to radicalize McVeigh than did the stand-off near Waco

AND what did this “dear” dufus do in the 1960s? Didn’t he participate in similar protests but with very dangerous and violent people? I haven’t seen any dangerous or violent people in the Tea Party gatherings. How dare this expresident dufus compare Tea Party (real American People) to the “discontent” prior to Kosovo. His bombing at that time was to deflect his misadventures with a young intern in the oval office.

Let me comment, for you:

What about WILLIAM AYERS!

The man not only supported and conspired in Domestic Terrorism, he actually BOMBED THE PENTAGON!

And, later in life, be becomes best friends with:

OBAMA!

(Ayers probably wrote Obama’s first book!)

You are abolutely correct. All of the tv darlings of that era have retired, but can’t keep their face or opinions off of the nation’s airwaves. Pity.

The Clinton Administration wanted no part of a war against international Islamic terrorism.

They turned down capture of OBL. They did little in response to the Kobar Towers destruction, The USS Cole destruction, et al.

The 9-11 attack was in the planning since 1998 stateside and the plot to fly planes into buildings was discovered even before that (and may have ties to the OKC bombing).

McVeigh and Nichols were guilty, no denying that. But the administration wanted to cut the investigation to a few names. Even other participants names aren’t so widely known (household names) as they gave up testimony for lighter sentences. Guilt is guilt, while make bargains with terrorists for testimony?

I remember reading something about an area in OK that was closed to the public. I’ve always thought McVeigh worked with a bunch of foreigners.
