A Navy Chief once told me that close only counts in three things: horseshoes, hand grenades and area-effect weapons. Now, when it comes down to how the mainstream media tried to portray members of the Tea Party they did not come “close.”
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, America has witnessed a popular uprising of people who have grown concerned by the massive power grab by President Obama and his allies in Congress, who have tried to cram “activist government” down our throats, while leaving the bills to our kids, grandkids and their children’s children.
When the grassroots efforts of the Tea Party Movement first took hold in the early days of the Obama regime, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed the movement as “Astroturf,” disheartened Republicans and racists, who could not accept a bi-racial man as President. The mainstream media and Democrat activists, taking their orders right from the Speaker’s office, tried to portray the political debate as being solely based on President Obama’s race and not the policies of an overreaching government.
During the Health Care debate this same media, along with the Democrat leaders, tried and failed in their attempt to use civil rights icon John Lewis and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus as foils to induce a racial incident to smear the Tea Party Movement — the citizen-reporter was there to bring you the real story and foil their plans.
The blogsphere was able to expose Democrat activists who sought to infiltrate the Tea Party Movement to incite incidents of violence, but once again these plans were foiled by blog sites such as Freerepublic.com, which exposed Oregon public school teacher Jason Levin the man behind “Crashtheparty.org.”

And Slick Willie has the gall to say this the same week leftist thugs physically accosted one of Jindal’s staffer’s and her boyfriend, leaving both seriously injured.
Add this to the false allegations of the “spitting” and the “N” word, and the beating of the black tea partier. Yet to date, not one Tea Party member has ever been arrested or accused of violence during a protest.

Listen, if I write something and make an error, I'd rather have someone point it out so I don't make it again, rather than continue in ignorance. If you prefer politeness (which leads to mediocrity), feel free to act accordingly, but don't try to tell me what to do.

As for politeness, it’s quite useful and appropriate in
handling a very minor problem.
To claim that politeness leads to mediocrity is a stretch. I just thought an old grump like me could point that out to you, so you don’t remain in ignorance about the usefulness of politeness.

It depends what form the politeness takes. If it's just a matter of saying something kindly but still saying what needs to be said, sure, politeness can be a virtue. But if politeness means that we can't mention something at all, it's no longer a virtue - it's in that case that it leads to mediocrity.
So now—can we all just move along to the topic of the thread?
I haven't been stopping anyone from doing that - be my guest.
Politeness leads to mediocrity ONLY if the participants are both of mediocre intellect.
I have had quite lively and stimulating discussions that were PAINFULLY polite, and anything BUT boring. I have also given up on loudmouths who think that the louder you get, the more likely you are to win a “debate”.
I leave the tone of any further discussion to you.
