And THAT’S truly what they fear.
The people rising up against their beloved government
after act after act of reducing us to absolute despotism.

Arizona ADL Participates in Statewide Immigration Strategy Session

Date: February 23, 2010

This past Saturday, Arizona Regional Director Bill Straus participated in a half-day “statewide immigration strategy session.” The meeting was called by the Border Action Network, in an effort to better coordinate the efforts of the collective group.

The sixteen organizations represented at the meeting were:

•ADL
•National Council for La Raza
•Border Action Network0
•Maricopa County Board of Supervisors
•Somos Americanos
•Reform Immigration for America
•Los Abogados (Latino lawyers association)
•ACLU
•Kino Border Initiative
•Humane Borders
•LaFronteraTimes.com
•Alliance for Refugee Justice
•Day Laborer Association
•Florence Immigrant & Refugee Project
•Arizona Advocacy Network
•Arizona Alliance for Refugee Justice

The session allowed each of the groups to present their basic mission and provide insight into the activities and efforts of their organization. Daniel Ortega, the current chair of the National Council of La Raza, was a participant, as were longtime activist and civic leader Alfredo Gutierrez and County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox.

With regard to this issue, ADL has been somewhat of a heroic organization of late, even being identified by the Sheriff’s Office the day before as one of the primary groups “conspiring to silence the Sheriff.” It was determined by meeting’s end that this was a very successful first step, and future meetings of the group will be scheduled on a semi-regular basis.

In 2006 the ADL condemned Senate Republicans in the United States for attempting to ban same-sex marriage with the Federal Marriage Amendment and praised its demise, calling it “discrimination”. That same year the ADL also warned that the debate over illegal immigration was drawing neo-nazis and anti-semites into the ranks of the Minutemen Project.

In 1993, the District of Attorney of San Francisco released 700 pages of documents implicating the Anti-Defamation League, an organization that claims to be a defender of civil rights, in a vast spying operation directed against American citizens who were opposed to Israel’s policies in the Occupied West Bank and Gaza and to the apartheid policies of the government of South Africa and passing on information to both governments.

The ADL provided secret files to police agencies when these police agencies were prevented by law from collecting the files themselves,

Many questions must still be answered about the activities of the ADL and it’s non-profit status as an “education organization”. The settlement offered by the ADL is recognition on its part that it could not afford to go to a trial in front of a jury and face the likelihood that more of its dirty secrets would be revealed.

"I can remember very days in the last few years where I don't go to sleep at night worried about what tomorrow's newspaper is going to tell me,” he said.

These people live their entire lives in a bizarre fantasy world where drooling, heavily-armed Christian fundies wait behind every rock, eager to maim and kill.

It would be one thing if these people were harmless crazy people muttering on streetcorners, or kids playing Dungeons and Dragons. Unfortunately, our lives are being "fundamentally remade" based on these lurid fantasies.

It seems quite a large stretch to tie in Columbine, Waco, and the OK bombings to border security and illegal immigration activism. But they’ll do it if it means being able to peg anti-amnesty groups as violent extremists.

Slick Willies’ Comment

...But I think that all you have to do is to read the paper every day to see how many there are who are deeply, deeply troubled. We know, now, that there are people involved in groups — these ‘hatriot’ groups, the Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters, the others — 99 percent of them will never do anything they shouldn’t do. But there are people who advocate violence and anticipate violence.

One of these guys the other day said that all politics is just a prelude to the ultimate and inevitable civil war. You know, I’m a southerner. I know what happened. We were still paying for that 100 years later when I was a kid growing up, in ways large and small. It doesn’t take many people to take something like that seriously. So I don’t want the whole story of this retrospective just to be about this, and to try to turn everything into politics...

I have looked at this in utter amazement myself. There is no way to have a rational dialogue with these people. It appears that they are either totally delusional or on mind-altering drugs.
