The ceremony has just started
thank you .. I can’t seem to get the live feed.. (plug in wont PLUG IN!
will check & see if it is on TV somewhere
that one needs a plug in also.. for some reason my mac wont take these MS plug ins. Wish CNN would have its European branch broadcasting this. All they have on now is news on the volcanic ash.
thanks for trying.. dont fuss more. Watch the service for your president
CNN is showing live now (a clip I think)
back to ash cloud.. guess to explain why so many heads of state were not able to get to Poland
Good morning lizol, I can’t get it either. I’m going to see if I can find it on TV.
Actually - it is on CNN, and on BBC News too.
not here.. they cut in to the service for about half a minute.. Wish we had Europe CNN on dish
Thank you very much, lizol.
I’m watching live now.
The mass is both sad and beautiful. The fleeting glimpses of his daughter Marta are heartbreaking; she seems devastated. And one can only imagine the feelings of an identical twin brother.
I am glad that Koehler was able to helicopter in and Medvedev to fly in. The representatives of the two countries which have most plagued Poland needed to be there.
comcast is showing everything for free on Polvision.
Thank you. I have been watching the last 45 minutes. The music is beautiful and the camera work is very well done. What is the chanting?
If I may answer, I believe you are referring to part of the Catholic Mass.
Oh, lizol, my heart pours out to the Polish people.
I can so relate to them being Polish Catholic myself.
Thank you for the link, Lizol. I’m watching it now.
Would anyone who understands Polish tell us please, what we are seeing — and where this is taking place?
I am a second-generation Polish American.
I do not speak any Polish at all.
What you were seeing is the standard Roman Catholic Mass in Polish.
They are now heading to the burial site.
Those were old Roman Catholic songs, most of them in Latin.
Is this the Mass for Ryszard Kaczorowski?
Yes and his wife.
Meantime; given Obama could not make flight; you would think that this ONE Sunday; Obama could show up for Service somewhere; where Poland's tragedy is being acknowledged in prayer.
At the moment they’re heading to the Wawel Royal Castle - were the late President and the First Lady will find their eternal rest - in the Royal crypts.
Oh, I’m sorry. I see there are two caskets now. So this is still the funeral for the Kaczynskis. My apologies.
This is the funeral of Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria.
Ryszard Kaczorowski was the last President of Poland in exile (until 1990). He also died in the crash, but he’ll be buried tommorow in Warsaw.
Oh, yes. Thank you dear, lizol.
This is where the President and First Lady lived prior to their deaths, correct?
Now they have arrived at the Wawel Cathedral
What is the name of the Cathedral where they had the Mass?
It was so very beautiful.
That was St. Mary’s Basilica.
The service, that is being conducted at the moment is the part of the funeral, that usualy takes place at the grave-site.
The reason is, that only the relatives and the Archbishop of Krakow Cardinal Dziwisz will go to the proper crypt.
I take it the crypt is below?
the Polish flag is beautiful.
Yes, the entrance on the left side of the Cathedral - as far as I remember.
I’m familiar with the Latin and the Polish Masses. Our family lives across from St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville, NJ. 5 generations have attended the church and school. I was Baptized there.
No, the crowd was chanting something when the caskets were brought out of St. Mary’s.
The red one with the White Eagle on it is covering the President’s coffin - as it is the official banner of the President of Poland
Oh, the crowd in the streets.
I have no idea what they were chanting.
It would be interesting to know like you said.
Now I see the difference.
It is sad and almost odd to see the President’s twin standing there in all his likeness. I can’t think of a funeral I’ve ever seen with a twin.
God bless this whole family and your entire nation. I feel like these people are part American and all of us in America, part Polish. Whether we have Polish in our blood, or not, all Americans are part Polish for our loving and friendly alliance.
You are a strong, strong people. And MUCH better off with our usurper not there. God is good.
