Washington (CNN) - Sen. John McCain on Sunday joined a cast of former presidential candidates and high-ranking Republicans to weigh in on Florida's August GOP senatorial primary between Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio.
"I hope that Charlie Crist will remain a Republican," McCain said.

I hope John McCain retires.
I wish McCain and Crist would BECOME Republicans!
lol
Crist is a Republican? Who knew?
Did you hear McCain on Fox this am? Did they mention the VAT issue?
Best post award goes to you.
And I hope he become a Democrat. If it walks like a duck...
I wish MCCain, Crist and Graham-nesty were Republicans but I would rather just see them gone. It would give Crist more time for his tanning bed and he and Graham-nesty could watch endless DVD’s of Judy Garland.
McLoser and the Soetoro Hugger are gone come November.
As usual McCain has his tenses screwed up. The correct statement would be, “I hope Charlie Crist becomes a Republican.”
I too, hope Charlie Crist remains a Republican. At least we will still have one of you worthless SOBs in the GOP. He won't do us any good, (neither did you) but at least we can more easily keep an eye on him. You, I never want to look at again.
Enjoy your retirement and STFU.
I think I know what McCain is getting at. Barry is going to need all the photo ops of being hugged by “Republicans” that he can get before the 2012 election.
Neither know the definition of Republican.
When will he just go away? Come on Arizona! Effin get him out of there!
Damn, McCain, we’re still waiting for YOU to act like a republican!
You could start with following the platform:
“We oppose amnesty. The rule of law suffers if government policies encourage or reward illegal activity. The American people’s rejection of en masse legalizations is especially appropriate given the federal government’s past failures to enforce the law.”

John McCain and others insisting their ‘legalization’ is NOT amnesty, are lying!
Yeah. He’s YOUR kind of “republican”, isn’t he, Juan??!!
...said the man who considered being John Kerry's running mate.
Twists and turns. Charlie rightly Vetoed the horrible Education “Reform” bill, a bill that many of my Republican colleagues despised. Marco steps on his dick by supporting the “Reform” bill and now Democrats are telling me they will register as Republicans to vote for Charlie Crist.
Charlie has been given a new life in Florida because the arrogant dip stick Republicans voted for a bill that a huge number of people didn’t want. Marco doesn’t know it yet but he is in serious trouble, especially if Charlie becomes an Independent.
Republicans in this state (and everywhere?) must take bottles of stupid pills every day to figure out how to lose elections that should be a no problem slam dunk.
Ahhhh, so this is why Jeb Bush came out for McCain. McCain and Crist are best buddies. Looks like Jeb pulled some strings to get McCain to get him to back off, in turn he gave him his endorsement.
I’m shocked, shocked to learn that Dr. Coppertone and Goober Graham are light in the loafers! < /sarc>
