Americans' trust in the federal government has been on a steady decline from a high of 73 percent during the Eisenhower administration in 1958, when the "trust" question was first posed in a national survey.

The Government doesn’t trust us... why should we trust it? Trust works both ways and the Federal Government has repeatedly betrayed the trust of the People. It is an entity that acts in it’s own self interest even to the demise of the people that it is there to REPRESENT.
If there is one thing both the right and left agree on, it’s distrust of the government. The reason for that distrust is the crux of the issue.
It’s really strange, given my values and how I was raised, to find myself distrusting the government of the United States...strange and sad.
That about exactly matches the percentage of self-identified liberals in the country (per national polling).
And yet most voters fall for the same old BS every election cycle. If you want to find someone to blame for the 95% shyster rate of elected politicians, look to the voters.
I just sent this article to all my congress critters....who all happen to be dims.....

I would be interested in the per cent of distrust from the population not directly employed in a government supported institution.

YES! And, I would bet that distrust of the Major News Media is right up there with that of the federal government.
It is just a matter of time until widespread unrest breaks out. You cannot traumatize 247 million people on a daily basis without a response. Nature gives man a survival instinct and when other human beings compromise that, LOOK OUT.
