WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy Sunday for the 29 miners who died in a coal mine explosion earlier this month.
The service, announced today by West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, will be held in Beckley, W.Va., and will include prayers, musical performances, tributes to the miners, and remarks from Mr. Manchin and other dignitaries.
Vice President Joe Biden will join the president to participate in the service, according to a White House news release issued today.
The service will be held at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, at 200 Armory Drive in Beckley, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Seats are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

My thoughts exactly.
Perfect time for more shout outs and to plug cap and trade.
Guaranteed he’ll do it.
Wow. What a great guy.
Let’s try to forget the fact that rather than attend the funeral of a world leader of a nation that is one of our truest allies — OBAMMIE THE COMMIE DECIDED TO PLAY GOLF.
He will only do that which helps him politically or enables him to push his agenda — in this case, IMHO, he will exploit the deaths of these miners to push his agenda of putting the union in every company in America.
Which, by the way, is one of the first steps of Syndicalism, which is the economic/industrial model preferred and implemented by Mussolini.
Too bad that he will be using the deaths of 29 men for political grandstanding.
“It was supposed to be the coal industry that died, not these poor, bitter men whose only sin was clinging to their guns and religion.”
Is this a joke?
bet he volunteered himself
Wonder if he knew a couple of miners and who their names are...Pig..
better cover up the crosses & crucifixes
What about that “separation of church and state” thing?
The absolute worst possibility for a memorial service....having the great enemy of mankind come to speak. If I were a family member I would not go. I’m serious. I would not go. How could anybody sit there in grief and listen to that obnoxious zip wad?
West Virginia called. They want Fred Phelps to come back instead of Barack Obama.
}:-)4
This a$$ has never done an honest day’s work in his life. This is a slap in the face of these hard working men and their families.
Bush’s fault, no doubt
Oh yeah, you just watch. He’s going to blame Bush for not enforcing the MINER Act and tougher penalties.
He “inherited” that mine, you know...
Nifty.
WTF?
But, in West Virginia, Zer0 will have no muslims to bow to!
This is going to be a difficult occasion for Zer0! Nobody in the WV crowd will give a pigs-sh!t for his spew, yet I hope he will get away from his policy of putting them all out of work.
How many times will he say “evil capitalism”; “evil Massey”; evil CO2; Hoohah government???
I wonder how many will come witness his eulogy for the mining industry?
Why the HELL would anyone in WV invite his sorry ass? I swear, if I had a family member who passed away, I either would NOT SHOW UP to the funeral, or if I chose to go, would turn my back on him while he spoke.
he’s the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral
Haven’t these poor families been through enough?
Pandering
Whatever the current record for using the words “I” and “me” in a eulogy is now there will be a new one when he’s done.
If the miners wives or family members had any brains & integrity at all, they would publicly denounce 0bozo for using the deaths of 29 miners as a publicity stunt for the narcissistic bastard commie pig 0bozo!
I think that is the post of the decade. You have just summed up Dear Leader perfectly!
You know I could not think of a single “nice” thing about 0bama delivering these minor’s eulogy. And I see so far not many other FReepers could either.
How poor a leader, that one would cringe, at the idea the leader would deliver a eulogy at a national tragedy? 0bama is such a leader. A man who had no manners, decorum, or class.

"I think I'm getting the black lung, pop."
gag, barf, hurl, vomit and puke my guts out.
My assessment as well. Zero is going to be p!ssing on the graves of the miners in order to make political hay.
“So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can its just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas thats being emitted.
“Coal provides 49% of domestic electrical power, and any rise in the cost of producing that energy will raise its cost to consumers and reduce the amount produced.”
What if they gave a wake and nobody came?
I am sorry; but this is sick.
And if anyone hopes Poles failed to notice this, they didn't (unless Warsaw Business Journal is a low impact publication; a plausible theory for many O's voters.)
One quote from this WBJ article:
The plumes of volcanic ash that ruined travel plans throughout Europe last week kept other world leaders away from the funeral, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicholas Sarkozy - though there was no word as to whether they too had taken to the links.
I am interested to learn how this will be received. Obama has been very verbal, opinionated, and declaritory with regard to this sad trajedy and mining in general.
This article is satire, right? Right?
The democratic governor invited Obama not the people. Remember WV went for McCain:
http://www.270towin.com/ I doubt that he will find much support in Beckley.
If he sincerely shares in the grief and makes appropriate comments, maybe it won’t be a political statement.
But, everywhere he goes, he goes to make his statements.
We’ll see.
It is the theater of the absurd. A man who can’t be bothered to make an appearance at any sort of memorial for his grandmother after her death, decides he is the apt “performer”(we are in a theatrical production, afterall) to eulogize men who were hard-working, honorable miners so extraordinarily different from Obama. The canard may be a reaction to his flippant golf outing as soon as he was free from attending the funeral of the Polish president. He needs the gravitas of another funeral to make him appear somber and caring. There is nothing caring about Obama; he is all absurd theater and posing. His appearance to deliver a eulogy is crass and disgusting theatrics and dishonors the dead in the most disingenuous and calculating manner. Obama has no shame and no scruples.
That’s great. A con-man and a liar speaking at a funeral of hard-working honest men. Just great.
He loves the spotlight more than Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson.
I just can’t imagine what Obama could say after villanizing the mine owner, declaring coal bad for the planet, and then if he caps and trades the mine out of existence, the mining community becomes “bitter clingers”.
I admit my bias. I find him so false, insincere, and self-important I would probably give him the Dick Cheney look.
I hope it is a comfort for the families and friends. And again, condolences for those good people.
As he bids them fairwell under the watchcare of a Savior he doesn’t really believe in.
I’m thinking similar thoughts. Zer0 may be delivering an eulogy to the miners, but on his agenda is being able to say the eulogy to the US coal mining industry. This disaster is giving him the justification to regulate the mines until they just can’t operate. Just watch.
I wouldn't be surprised if Obama doesn't wind up doing this on the anniversary date of when Bill Clinton traveled to Oklahoma City and did the same thing at the memorial to those killed in the OKC bombings. That was the most shameful, despicable case of political grandstanding on the bodies of the dead and murdered I have ever seen, but I'm sure Obama will top it.
I don’t think those WV boys are going to like this.
So very well said.
