Right-Wing RightNetwork Already Causing a Stir
AOLNews ^ | April 20, 2010 | Carl Franzen

(April 20) -- Look alive, Fox! This summer, a new on-demand media network is set to debut several steps to the right of the current "Fair and Balanced" cable-news leader.

The "RightNetwork" announced its arrival with a limited-preview website, touting a line-up of all-original programming designed to reflect "Pro-America, Pro-Business, Pro-Military sensibilities." And even though the start-up lacks a specified release date and may or may not have a national distributor, it has already generated the kind of controversy that befits any cable news channel.

The commotion was largely kicked up by a widely circulated promotional video starring "Cheers" and "Frasier" alumnus Kelsey Grammer as himself, sounding off on things he thinks are wrong with the world -- a list that covers everything from "big government" to "grape-flavored vodka."

correct
I cannot believe some have already fallen for this and the channels has not even started.

There’s a gun right group pretending to be right wing and comp for the NRA but they are anything but right wing.

they have set up churches like the unitarian church.

now this could be a ploy by the left so lets not all get giddy just yet as it could be their way of taking fox down

really ‘do you know who is funding this?

You seem very happy but I bet you do not know who is funding this and yet some will think it’s right wing but then find out it will turn left because it is the lefts way of taking viewers away from fox who they hate plus tell the viewers stories with a more left tilt over time

I would like to see a news program that responds to and analyzes events reported in the MSM on a day by day basis, to reveal the omissions abd distortions we see every day.

I’d love to see a channel which tells viewers how the MSM is slanting their facts and then they proceed to tell the real facts

name and shame like the GOP should be doing but haven’t the balls too

If you read further in the article:

A "look book" document posted briefly on the website before being inexplicably removed today features statements of support from Grammer and one Ed Snider, multimillionaire owner of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers and chairman of the cable TV subsidiary Comcast-Spectacor, who says:

We're creating a welcome place for millions and millions of Americans who've been looking for an entertainment channel and media network that reflects their point of view. RightNetwork will be the perfect platform to entertain, inform and connect with the American majority about what's right in the world.

This is in keeping with the 77-year-old self-made media mogul's public support of unconstrained free markets, specifically the philosophy championed by "Atlas Shrugged" author Ayn Rand. In a memorable speech in 2007, Snider explained how he came to be such a fan of Rand, even going so far as to oversee the creation of the Ayn Rand Institute.

I wonder is Pat Sajak, Drew Carey, Patricia Heaton and others can be convinced to join this effort?

“this could be a ploy by the left so lets not all get giddy just yet”

Fair enough, but I remain hopeful.

Time will tell.

Don’t know if this is actually going to materialize, or not. If so, it’s rumored to launch in the summer of 2010...we’ll be watching for it.

DISH Network is filled with weirdo left wing channels out in the swamp land of satellite. I hope they can drop one of their Chinese channels if the need the room for this. Maybe a few of their Global Warming channels too.

This could help Fox by demonstrating that they are closer to the middle than the MSM claims. When everything is left-biased, anything towards the middle appears right-biased by contrast.

Hopefully, DirecTV will do the same and add this network to their lineup.

Reminds me of a quote I read once:

“’Gay’ used to be one of the most agreeable words in the language. Its appropriation by a notably morose group is an act of piracy.” — Arthur Schlesinger

Come on people. Whats with all these conspiracy posts?
Let’s just wait and see.

We have the traditional alphabet networks (ABC,NBC,
CBS,PBS), Comedy Central, HBO, and others which we
all know to be leftist propaganda machines. They
don’t necessarily see themselves as we do. More
important, a great segment of the population doesn’t
understand what we do about the unfairness of the
MSM. Maybe they don’t care or possibly they are
just politically numb. Anyway, who among us would
be dumb enough not to recognize a bunch of lefties
posing as conservatives? If we’re not smart enough
to pick them out then we are certainly too dumb
to be a movement. Let’s put these conspiracy
theories on the backburner.

On the other hand the current line-up of left wing
networks do not advertise themselves as such. By
not labelling themselves they can claim that they
occupy the middle ground which is precisely where the
majority of viewers believe they are as individuals.
Now, a new network enters the picture. It proudly
proclaims itself to be a voice for a specific poli-
tical point of view. That may work well for us as
conservatives but how will it play to the rest of
the TV watching nation? Would it have been better
for the network to have promoted itself as “some-
thing different” and proceed to provide conserva-
tive programing while claiming no bias? That
would be no different than what the other networks
have always done.

Basically, my question is will proclaiming “in
your face” conservatism be a winning formula?
It will depend on programing. I hope there is
is a satire based news program similar to the
Daily Show. If they need writers all they have
to do is to frequent FR. Some of the funniest
edgey stuff is right here........

Now this could be big. I look forward to the launch and hope that is as good as it could be.
