NEW YORK During her first four days living in an airport, Dominica Zschiesche cleaned her body with hand wipes and used a public bathroom sink to shave her legs and wash her hair.
But by Day 5 at Camp Kennedy, she seemed almost at home, standing near the concourse barefoot and with her hair wrapped in a blue towel after she finally got to shower.
"It was wonderful. It was the best shower I ever had," said the 29-year-old art student from Frankfurt.
Hundreds of passengers are stranded at John F. Kennedy International Airport while they wait for the volcanic ash cloud over Europe to clear and flights to resume. They were doing the best they could in the stuffy, smelly space.

Hope they all get home safe and soon.

I don’t believe this story. Everyone knows that German women don’t shave their legs.
Barriers stand in front of an empty departures gate at Glasgow airport in Scotland, April 20, 2010. Much of Britain's airspace will remain closed to flights below 20,000 feet (6,000 metres) until at least midnight GMT due to fears about the danger posed by volcanic ash from Iceland, aviation officials said on Tuesday. “Everyone knows that German women dont shave their legs.”
As a naive young man I bedded a euro chick and was shocked to find that she had hairy breasts. It wasn’t a show stopper though.
“Harry Reid’s kind of crowd... smelly and captive..”
It can’t be healthy having all those people camp at the airport.
*shudders*
I saw an interesting interview with the President of Penn Financial this morning on Fox Business.
He flew into Stockholm last week to deliver a speech, and got caught in the flight cancellations. He finally got a ticket for a 2-day bus trip to Copenhagen where he just arrived this morning.
He found out about a flight out of Copenhagen that departs on the 24th, the next available flight, and if it does not go, the next one after that is not until the 29th. He said he has booked passage on a train to Spain/Portugal, but they are booked solid and his train leaves on the 28th...
He said he can afford to live like this, eating at the airport and having a beer at the bar, but he has seen hundreds of people who are on their own, have been living in the airport for a week already, and are probably facing another week on what little money they have left in hand.
I’d say we have a real humanitarian problem shaping up all over the world in airports, and I have no doubt that relief agencies are scrambling to do something to help these people. I can’t imagine being stuck in a foreign country like many are, and trying to live on ever dwindling pocket change and the goodwill of other people. If this continues much longer (and it probably will) some of these people will be in real trouble.

She may never know the joys of scratching her ba***, but I’d put a shower after 5 days right up there with it. :)
Not yet, too early. Wait till Katla goes.
Katla Kan’t Wait!!!!
I’ve read that when the currently erupting volcano erupts Katla usually follows. And Katla make the currently erupting volcano look like child’s play.
I wish I had a cruise ship line that went back and forth between the USA and Europe. I could be making big buckaroos right now.
Back in the day(1959-1962)when I was stationed in Germany, many of them didn’t shave their legs or under their arms, some did, however. You could see the hair matted under their nylons and it was not bad except for the occasional really hairy legged woman. I would imagine that German women today do shave their legs for the most part.
This reminds me of a hike I took many years ago covering the length of Isle Royale in northwestern Lake Superior and a Canadian wilderness canoe trip I tok about 25 years ago. On the Isle Royale trip I went without a bath for five days of hiking. By the end I was so desperate I found a small bay with shallow water that wasn’t too cold and bathed there using a dirty T shirt as a bath cloth. Seldom have I felt as good as I did after that bath.
The Canadian canoe trip was similar. After about four days all of us, men and women, felt so vile that we abandoned our modesty, we all stripped naked, and shared the soap while bathing off the same small beach. Getting clean was so vital that nothing else mattered.
Regarding women with hair follicles on the boobies:
Actually, that can happen to a lot of women as the estrogen production starts to diminish.
Waxing was invented for a reason.
