LEXINGTON, Va. (April 19, 2010) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will receive the Distinguished Diplomat Award from Virginia Military Institute when she visits the post on April 28.
Secretary Clintons work throughout her public life representing the United States in numerous venues and on issues of national and international importance makes this award highly appropriate, said Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III, superintendent of the military college. It is an honor for us that she is taking time from her busy schedule to come to VMI to address the Corps of Cadets as well as receive this award.

VMI !!?? Isn’t VMI that girls’ school over in Lexington? I know they still have a few boys left there but...
What happened to VMI? Shoosh, it must be VMI’s time of the month.
Stonewall Jackson must be rolling over in his grave.
Yeah, I know. I don’t think he and Hillary would have gotten along too well...whadya think?
An old grunt, I never had any respect for my “superiors”.
But to much reading DID give me some respect for VMI.
Wrong again, I guess, but so it goes as this PFC wanders on...
More proof that G-d has a perverse sense of humor...
Patton is rotating in his grave at somewhere in excess of 10,000 RPM at the moment.
VMI must need some $$$ or favor from the govt. Shameless.
Who at VMI decided on this abomination?
“Stonewall” Jackson is rolling over in his grave!!
This would be akin to the American Legion bestowing a patriot of the year award to Bill Ayers.
Just hazarding a guess here that it wasn't somebody who has to solicit alums for donations...further guess says those donations are likely to slide considerably in reaction to this bit of bureaucratic brilliance.
I thought I heard a high pitched noise... :|
Thomas Jonathan along with some cast of my family. Many times over the years I’ve had regret at not having the privilege of standing the Rat Line. After Supe Bunting, the thought of missed opportunity was lessened.
An award to Shrillery is too much though. What was the criteria, being some antithesis of a Keydet?
I wanna see her do that "sprint and crawl across the tarmac" while wearing the flack jackets thing. AFTER a "spiral landing."
No Honor Code there, it seems.
