MSNBC's Maddow, Pennsylvania Gov. Rendell Complain Media Giving Tea Party Too Much Coverage
Newsbusters ^ | April 22, 2010 | Jeff Poor

So you do your part and pay your taxes to the federal government. However, you feel you pay too much and you don't like how that same government uses that money. Do you have the right to petition and protest that government?

If it's on federal land that your tax dollars paid for, then your protest is hypocritical nonsense, according to MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. To her, the tea partiers, who protested on the government land of the National Mall, are hypocrites. Worse, they're getting unwarranted media coverage.

"In the case of the tea partiers, though, mainstream media coverage has been willing to almost assume that they're making sense, even in the face of evidence to the contrary," Maddow said on her April 21 program. "Because the idea of being in favor of smaller government, the idea that government is inherently wasteful and incompetent and should be shrunk, because that idea has shifted from a conservative movement talking point 30 years ago to centrist Beltway common wisdom today, sometimes we don't recognize the hypocrisy when it's right in our face. The conservative movement won the framing fight. It doesn't sound crazy anymore to rail against the federal government while standing in a national park until you really think about it."

Fast Eddie Rendell should spend more time governing the state of Pennsylvania and not worry about the Beltway media... Just a thought..

Rachel Maddow is free to shut her piehole on the tea parties but yet she rants and rants and rants.....dirty little secret is, it is the only way this big mouth can get any ratings.

The National Mall is not the Government’s mall. It is the all-American mall. Maddow is a Marxist, so she would deny that fact.

Not sure they are covering the Tea Party Patriots too much but they are fomenting hate concerning them. So yes I wish they would stop and we will remember in November.

This is what passes for logic in Maddow's mind. It's not the tea-partiers fault that the Fedgov has taken over lands all over the country.

It's clear that Maddow is unfamiliar with the Federalist Papers and the Constitution if she thinks smaller government is just a talking point dreamed up by 20th century conservatives. Madam, it is the building block of your entire nation.

If Rendell didnt have the tea party to analyze, mock and discuss, what gigs would he get on TV?

“democrat governors from bug labor states who love obama”? Get in line

Ditto with Rachel Madcow, no one to be angry at, nothing to talk about

This is the truly stupid part of here argument, and others like it.

The fact is, that we play by the rules in effect at the time of the game. The fact that we may not like the rules does NOT mean that we should not play by them.

Should an NL club refuse to use the designated hitter in an AL game, just because the NL is against the idea? Of course not.

Is it hypocritical for me to take a tax deduction for something that I think there should be no deduction for? Of course not.

Is it hypocritical to use the national parks that exist, even if I disagree with the idea that the government should pay for them? Of course not.

I could work to change the rules, but playing by the rules in effect NOW is not hypocrisy.

By that same liberal “logic”, if I get a bad hammer at Home Depot, I should go to Jamba Juice to demand a refund.

So we should refrain from using land we’ve already paid for because we think we pay too much in taxes?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot???

Does she not drive her paid-for car because brand-new gold-plated and diamond-encrusted Mercedes are so danged expensive?

The hate campaign against the Tea Party movement is losing traction and falling apart. The real problem is the credibility of the MSM is in the tank and no one is listening any longer.

You're helping millions more people recognize it than ever before, Rachel. So keep sneering, yapping and lying - that's what you're good at, and it's helping a whole lot of people finally wake up.

Fast Eddie should be more concerned that Barney Frank is about to snatch away his Casino Pot O’ Gold by legalizing then taxing online gambling.

On the Tax Day Tea Party Rally in Grand Prairie Texas, I took video camera in hand and interviewed attendees. I did this knowing it would counter the media misrepresentaion of the Tea Partiers.

PLEASE FORWARD these links to anyone who has been lied to by the media and politicians about the Tea Party Movement, which of course is everybody.

Sounds like we could be making some progress. The msm started first by ignoring the TP movement, they moved on to ridicule, then to disparaging, and most recently by invoking fear of violence.
Now they are back to ignoring.

If you take that nonsense to the logical(?) conclusion, no one has the right to protest against the government at any time.

Madcow should perhaps learn the difference between "citizens" and "subjects."

Like the taxpayer who was waiting in line at the DMW...when he got to the front, the clerk apologized for the line. She said they were trying to improve customer service.

The taxpayer said, "You've got it wrong...I'm not a customer, I'M THE OWNER."
