Senate Confirms Openly Gay Judicial Nominee

Senators confirmed the judicial nomination of Marisa Demeo, an openly lesbian candidate, late Tuesday. The 66-32 vote fell largely along partisan lines.

Republicans opposed to Demeo have blocked her confirmation to the D.C. Superior Court bench since her March 2009 nomination by President Obama.

n a letter by the socially conservative group Traditional Values Coalition, senators were urged to reject Demeo because she's openly gay. The letter, obtained by the progressive website ThinkProgress.org, was published Tuesday.

“As an open, radical lesbian, Demeo has openly condemned the effort to amend our Constitution to protect marriage as a one-man, one-woman union,” the group wrote. “Demeo supports gay marriage, claiming it is a constitutional right. She also claims that LGBT individuals are equal to racial minorities and can claim protection as minorities under our civil rights laws.”

The group went on to call Demeo “dangerous to our nation” and would “destroy traditional marriage through her edicts.”

But Obama just said that she is not openly gay. Or was that just the official position before she was confirmed?

Which Republicans voted for this lesbian activist? There must have been at least 7 or 8 of them.

I don’t want to paint with a broad brush by why is it that lawyers and judges appear to be predisposed to being sexual deviants?

Just saying...

Somehow I can picture 0zero having a penchant for young Asian men sucking on his special cigar. But that’s just my opinion. It’d be loads of media fun to get actual evidence of that though..hee hee.

Under the current Senate rules, at least one member of the minority party must vote to end debate in committee and send it to the full Senate for a vote. He was probably the bastard that did it.

BTW, rumor is that Grahamnesty is gay and doesn’t want it made public. As a result the Rats are blackmailing him.

Demeo supports gay marriage, claiming it is a constitutional right.

How did the religious institution of marriage become a federal concern? It is not mentioned in the constitution.

Ah, yes. But does she think that traveling and vacations are a Constitutional right? Some top brass in the EU are now lobbying to make the EU taxpayers fund vacations for the young, the elderly and poor people saying that traveling is a right. Not /s.

She wasn’t oppossed because she’s openly gay...but because she’s an activist.

For whoever’s interested, here’s the vote breakdown:

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote=00120

Bond, Brown, Collins, Lugar, Murkowski, and Snowe appear to be the Republicans who voted in favor of Demeo.
