The Coffee Party Heats Up (Newsweak:*200,000* 'showed up' LIE!!)

When Annabel Park imagined what it would be like to head a new national political movement, here is what she had in mind: a coming together of engaged, intelligent citizens who had tired of the angry rhetoric and accusations of the Tea Partiers; Americans of all political persuasions joining in a spirit of equanimity to discuss the nation's problems, and maybe even share a laugh. It was this beautiful vision that danced in Park's head on a recent Saturday as she made her way to Busboys and Poets, a cafe in Washington, D.C., for one of nearly 500 Coffee Party meetings taking place nationwide that day. She knew the house would be full—word had spread quickly on the group's swelling Facebook page. Park, a documentary filmmaker, was especially pleased that C-Span had arranged to broadcast the meeting.

...But then, Park didn't set out to create a political movement in the first place. She was just exhausted by all-Tea-Party-all-the-time on the news. One night in January, she signed on to her Facebook page and ranted about "the false narrative that the tea party is the real America." Her friends picked up on the post and it led to the creation of the Coffee Party. Within days, thousands of people signed up on Facebook.

...All of a sudden Park was a political leader—of what, she didn't quite know—and the target of right-wing fury. Conservative bloggers unearthed—scandal!—that she had once briefly worked for The New York Times and supported Sen. Jim Webb, a moderate Democrat from Virginia. One online commenter accused her of being a "Chinese agent." The notoriety didn't really hurt: the group now has more than 200,000 members, and every status update Park posts gets about a million views.

You mean the Coffee party is really decaf?

Does that mean we can call them D-baggers?

Maybe some of us should “infiltrate”, and bring up some “interesting” topics for discussion.

I would, but live out in the boonies, in “fly-over-land, where people work hard to make a living, and do not have time for “coffee parties”.

The story seems to be a hoax.

I have no doubt that liberal groups could bus in 200,000 union members, gay rights and other left-leaning pressure groups into Washington DC if they wanted to. But the question is whether or not it actually happened, not whether it could have.

But any large demonstration like that would require a caravan of busses, and loads of organization, a huge effort.

Hearing about it after the fact , when before the fact there wasn’t a public hint that the event was going to happen before time, just doesn’t meet the smell test, especially since I’m just 5 hours away in a town with lots of unionists who would have had to have been mobilized to achieve the crowd claimed.

I had to go back to the WeakNews site to re-read the article. I still can't figure out how they came up with 200,000.

But I did read some of the comments. Man, if you want to see (read) what hate really is, read some of the comments by the leftwing nuts. Now that's some real hate there. They just plain make stuff up, too. These people really do live in a fantasy la-la land.

I also believe that there is a small but significant core of leftwing nuts that are completely unreachable by reasoned debate. They can't (not won't, can't!) think outside of their own shell. These people will defend Zero and his fascists right to the nation's death, and still blame conservatives for it. They will never accept the responsibility or blame themselves.

The question is, how do we marginalize these people? How do we make the thinking people see the nuts for what they are? Remember that a good number of these nuts are in the media, and can rapidly spread their message to the waiting lemmings every night.

There never was a rally with 200,000 ‘coffee partiers’. Newsweek twisted the truth about HOW MANY PEOPLE SIGNED UP FOR THE COFFEE PARTY’S *FACEBOOK* Page! Liars!
