Threats close down Grijalva office in Yuma
The Yuma Sun ^ | April 23, 2010 10:29 AM | from staff reports

Posted on 04/23/2010 12:53:58 PM PDT by GoRepGo

The controversy over SB 1070 continued Friday as death threats to the Tucson office of U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva prompted the closure of all of his district offices, including one in Yuma.

Grijalva spokesman Adam Sarvana told The Yuma Sun Friday that two death threats from the same man came into the Tucson office earlier that morning.

Police were posted outside that office immediately following the calls.

Sarvana, who said he spoke with officials in the Tucson office, said both times the caller said he would come into the office and "blow" everyone's brains out and then go down to the border and shoot anyone who crossed it.

As a result of the calls, all district offices were to close as of noon Friday Arizona time.

When asked if the caller gave any specific reference to the immigration bill, Sarvana said no, but did say, "it sounds like an anti-immigrant constituent."

"He didn't mention the bill by name, but he definitely made threats to the staff," he said.

The Yuma Sun contacted both the Yuma Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol as well as the patrol's Washington office, and representatives with both offices said they were unaware of any additional measures being taken at the border at this time.

The Yuma Sun also contacted both the Yuma Police Department and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office but neither phone call was immediately returned.

A representative of Grijalva's Tucson office said they have received many calls recently about the controversial bill.

"Ninety-eight percent of our calls this week have been about the bill," he said.

Stay with www.yumasun.com for more, including comments from the congressman, as the situation unfolds.

The story might be believable IF the bill had failed to pass the House/Senate. Why would anyone who favors the bill be throwing a stink?

Leave it to an Arizona woman to have the cojones to stand up to Obama.

As His creation falls from grace in the Garden, He prophesies that the woman’s seed will become the redeemer of this situation and will subdue the influence of the serpent and the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:15).

Now maybe we’ll get something done on immigration reform. In the meantime, we are better equipped to protect Arizona families.

“Why did the good people of Arizona elect this clown to office?”

It’s called election fraud. In the west, illegals are routinely registered to vote.

It’s funny, but ya never hear of any of these supposed issuers of death threats to leftist congress critters being caught. (Well, except for the few who turn out to be crazy leftists themselves, and then the mediots drop it like a hot potato.) Am I to believe these issuers of death threats are such evil geniuses that they never get caught?

That’s an “undocumented” threat. We have no proof that it came from an American. However, if the law is signed, we will at least know that much.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, Grijalva responded: “In a perfect, perfect world we’d have an open border, but ... with immigration we have to deal with reality."

Yeah, and in my perfect world, all politicians aren't corrupt, socialist b*tards.

"In a perfect, perfect world we’d have an open border, but...."

UHmmm, would that be the "perfect world" in which any of the world's 6.4 billion people feel free to stomp into my house or your house anytime, trash it up, take what they want, etc.? Would that be the "perfect world" in which hippie nirvana has arrived? I prefer an "imperfect" world with some reasonable laws and ENFORCEMENT of said laws.

I don’t wish this man any ill- but considering his public remarks I am puzzled as to why he even wants to be a politician in the U.S. where he is expected to support U.S. citizens. If he is so concerned with illegals why doesn’t he run for office in Mexico or other countries that have so many leaving for the U.S. so he can solve their problems in their own country?

Two reasons, the district was drawn so only he or someone like him could be elected, and voter fraud.
