Small Riot Breaks Out at Immigration Protest

The fight over Senate Bill 1070 took to the streets of downtown Phoenix, as riot Police were called to the Capitol to control an unruly group of protesters.
Witnesses say a group protesting against SB1070 began to fight with a man who was for the controversial immigration bill.
Police tried escorting that man away from the scene, fearing for his safety, when they too came under attack by people throwing items, including water bottles.
A young man was arrested during that melee.
Things calmed down moments later, but riot Police remained at the capital to maintain some sort of order.
Earlier in the day, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed SB1070 into law,.

It’s Arizona Night on Free Republic. The last state in the continental US to be brought into the union, is taking drawn swords and rushing the battle lines, first met. Free cactus coolers for all in a celebratory toast. We’ve got them on the run, my fellow Americans, and they are trashing the place on the way out. Typical.
That is a long, many year process.
Too damn bad. Millions of people have done just that and many more are doing so right now. Those immigrants are welcome; illegals are not.

Heck. Not everyone does it or wants to do it. He has been posting for a while. I think it provides some texture. I find it mildly humorous.
But hey...we can disagree. I don’t think we will see it explode, it is too damn much work for people to go out of their way to do it.
Personally, I post a lot of pictures, more than most, because it just makes it more interesting in my opinion. But as my wife likes to say, it isn’t a hill I want to die on...:)

I will certainly agree with you that the border must be secured as a first step. Should have been done decades ago.According to Fat Teddy (now sober 7 months) it was done decades ago...

State and local law enforcement officials have the general power to investigate and arrest violators of federal immigration statutes without prior INS knowledge or approval, as long as they are authorized to do so by state law.
