SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Ford Motor Co. is riding a wave of momentum for the release of its quarterly report next week, and Wall Street is expecting to see still more concrete evidence of the resurgent automaker's recent strides.
Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford /quotes/comstock/13*!f/quotes/nls/f (F 14.21, +0.01, +0.07%) will hand in its results Tuesday. Analysts estimate the company earned 32 cents a share in the first quarter, with sales of $28.5 billion, according to an average calculated by FactSet Research
David Silver, an automotive analyst for WStreet.com, said he'll scrutinize cash flow and overseas sales.
"I expect it to be a strong quarter for the company with Mulally increasing his production targets for the second half of the year in the U.S. and Asia, while keeping production in Europe relatively flat," Silver said.

We’ll be replacing two vehicles in the near future. Both will be Fords.
According to their share gains, I’m not alone in that sentiment!
Don’t buy Ford! You will be supporting the UAW.
My father -in-law (God rest his soul) retired after working the line at Ford for 40 years. He would be proud of his company.
Uncles on my dad’s side in Michigan worked on the line and in corporate for Ford for decades. I was always a Chevy man but I have owned three Explorers and like them.
I buy just about everything on the second hand market, aside from shoes and underwear.
I’ll buy a used Ford with the same mind-set that if I buy used blue jeans or t-shirts I’m not 100% supporting child labor abuses in foreign countries.
You have to pick your battles, or you’ll be walking around naked because you can’t justify spending your dollars on anything, anywhere. ;) Same with food. Do you eat produce not grown in your town when in season, but imported from another state or country? OMG! You’re supporting corrupt Big Agriculture!
I also shop at Wal-Mart. You’d be amazed at the thousands of everyday items in their stores that are Made in America. Just read a product label and spend according to your own conscience.
‘Tain’t Rocket Science.
The true American auto company.
My husband has been a Ford mechanic for over 30 years. So Fords are the only brand for us. We live in farm country and the farmers here depend on their trucks.
