President Obama Slams Arizona Law As Misguided
New York Daily News ^ | April 24,2010 | Staff

PHOENIX - Gov. Jan Brewer ignored criticism from President Obama on Friday and signed into law a bill supporters said would take handcuffs off police in dealing with illegal immigration in Arizona, the nation's busiest gateway for human and drug smuggling from Mexico.

With hundreds of protesters outside the state Capitol shouting that the bill would lead to civil rights abuses, Brewer said critics were "overreacting" and that she wouldn't tolerate racial profiling.

"We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act," Brewer said after signing the law. "But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation."

Earlier Friday, Obama called the Arizona bill "misguided" and instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it's legal. He also said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level - or leave the door open to "irresponsibility by others."

"That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona, which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe," Obama said.

The legislation, sent to the Republican governor by the GOP-led Legislature, makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It also requires local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants; allows lawsuits against government agencies that hinder enforcement of immigration laws...

"It's going to change our lives," said Emilio Almodovar, a 13-year-old American citizen from Phoenix. "We can't walk to school any more. We can't be in the streets anymore without the pigs thinking we're illegal immigrants."

How is it misguided?

My town in TX always checks out new inmates to see if they are legal or not and they put them on ‘Immigration Holds’ if they are not. They are handed over to the INS or ICE or whatever for deportation.

They tell us, sir, that we are weak, unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed...? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of Hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

It’s a state’s right to defend itself ~ and it’s citizens and taxpayers ~ when the Federal government refuses to do it’s job.

Lead the charge against this Law, Oh Great Usurper of the Republic!

Does this work? I say, give the States the power to deport and I am ALL in favor of this law.

Police powers within the boundaries of a state belong to the state government. So says the Constitution, and is backed up by the Federalist, written by Madison, Hamilton and Jay.

If Obama was a competent lawyer who had read and understood the Constitution, he would know that. But he hasn't and doesn't. Now, electing Obama, THAT was "misguided."

They don't respect the law, why should they respect those who enforce the law? Hopefully, Emilio gets sent back to the hell hole he came from. One less future drug dealer to deal with.

The proper response to every comment made by the administration regarding them being against tough immigration laws is to call them anti-white racists. They have been name calling for years, and they have positioned themselves as the ‘thoughtful, tolerant’ side, when in reality they are motivated by envy and hatred. They are racists and need to be called out on it, every single time they open their bigoted mouths.

“Basic notions of fairness”

Damn him. What’s fair about people sneaking in and not waiting their turn in the immigration line? What’s fair about all of us workers being forced to pay monstrous taxes to supply benefits to these people? What’s fair about our local school being overrun by low-achieving children of illegals dragging our property values down. What’s fair about some of the horrible drug violence spilling over the border into our country? What’s fair about ranchers getting murdered on their property?

Screw him and his notion of fairness. FU Obama.

Did the chief law enforcement officer get his law degree online or did they just send it?
