Do Blacks Have a Reason to Vote GOP? Michael Steele Says No
CBS ^ | 4/22/10 | Stephanie Condon

The Republican Party has not given African Americans a good reason to vote for the party, Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele said Tuesday night.

"You really don't have a reason to, to be honest -- we haven't done a very good job of really giving you one. True? True," Steele said at DePaul University, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Steele, the first African-American chairman for the RNC, said the GOP has lost its historical link to African Americans.

"This party was co-founded by blacks, among them Frederick Douglass," he said. "The Republican Party had a hand in forming the NAACP, and yet we have mistreated that relationship. People don't walk away from parties, their parties walk away from them."

Unfortunately Michael, the RNC made you the leader because of your skin color. not because of your accomplishments. You have done a crappy job and now it is time to move on. If the African American community insists on staying on the Democrat Plantation, than so be it.

Steele has lost his collective mind.

Just has many Blacks are realizing a shared destiny with the republican party
Steele turns them away at the door.

“The Republican Party has not given African Americans a good reason to vote for the party”

As long as we’re being honest, the GOP hasn’t given anyone - not just blacks - a good reason to vote for the party. The only reason people are likely to vote for it is because they seem to want to vote against our socialist president and congress.

This guy is absolutely unbelievable. I can’t believe they don’t make him step down.”

I will not send a single dime to the RNC—especially as long as a guy with that attitude is in charge.

What does he think his job is?

It appears as though he hates white people so much that he is willing to allow the thing he is charged with managing to fail?

With leadership like this 0bama has a clear shot at installing Socialism in America.

Steele is an ignorant, spoiled child. Why was he given this job again?
Was simply because of his skin color as a reaction to Obama’s election?

I want blacks who love their country to join the GOP because it is the only party out to save their country. I don’t want people who must be treated specially and bought.

The nickname for the GOP should be “POK” “Party Of the Klan”

Yeah, and Robert Byrd could be our mascot. ;)

I have known more than one aged dem who would never vote GOP cuz the slaves were freed under a Republican. The most liberal woman I've ever dated was rabidly racist, and she didn't see what I was talking about when I pointed this out to her.

Let the widdle libs have their fantasies. Too bad back around WW2 the Republicans allowed FDR to lure blacks away, as blacks were overwhelmingly Republican before then.

Yet another reason why Michael Steele should be collecting unemployment.

The Republican Party has not given African Americans a good reason to vote for the party, Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele said Tuesday night.

Well, except for that little bit of legislation that ended slavery, I guess.

Or how about just by offering them something other than a third world, Marxist Hell hole in which to raise their families?

“If they boot him tomorrow - it validates his claim.”

Then it’s time the RNC grew a pair. The Race Card has been overplayed and has become irrelevant. We need strong leaders who won’t let dem labels deter them.
