A heroic homeless man, stabbed after saving a Queens woman from a knife-wielding attacker, lay dying in a pool of blood for more than an hour as nearly 25 people indifferently strolled past him, a shocking surveillance video obtained by The Post reveals.
Some of the passers-by paused to stare at Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax last Sunday morning and others leaned down to look at his face.
He had jumped to the aid of a woman attacked on 144th Street at 88th Road in Jamaica at 5:40 a.m., was stabbed several times in the chest and collapsed as he chased his assailant. ..."

New York values
When he saved the woman, did she not call the police to report the attack?
Hey, you inhumane trash...couldn’t just 1 of you anonymously called 911??????
Nobody could even get on their f-—ing cell phone to call 911?
And New Yorkers wonder why people look at them with pity/contempt. If this were unusual, it would be understandable - but the fact is that this sort of thing is apparently commonplace there.
Why get involved? Getting involved doesn’t benefit ‘me’?
Lefty values. When everything else is everyones else responsability, it doesn’t matter. Deeply disturbing.
That's more like it.
She probably didn’t want to get involved. It’s a New York thing. And yes, that does mean she wasn’t worth saving...

“In the wake of the bloodshed, a man came out of a nearby building and chillingly took a cellphone photo of the victim before leaving. And in several instances, pairs of people gawked at Tale-Yax without doing anything.
Later, another man stopped, leaned over and vigorously shook Tale-Yaxs body. After lifting the victims head and body to reveal a pool of blood, he also walked off.”

Is Dinkins mayor again? Sure seems like it.
This is the kind of thing you see in 3rd world countries..it’s not uncommon as I have seen it in both Vietnam and China where someone has been hit by a car and is just left dying as people walk and drive by totally ignoring what is right before their eye’s. It’s like, hey this happens everyday...no big deal, none of my business.
Exactly, this is liberalism in (in)action. People are conditioned to expect government to take care of everything, no personal initiative is needed.
Obamacare in action...
The description of the attacker gives his height and the clothes he was wearing. No race given. They could have immediately elimimated half of the population of men if his race had been given.
You know his race...
SCUMBAG
Same race as those traitors who voted for Communism during our last election.
The Brady Campaign is pleased, as, most importantly, no gun was used.
In leftist liberal land all proles are equally worthless.
Disgusting.
And where was the woman he saved?????? Did SHE just run off too???? How could she POSSIBLY live with this the rest of her life - the guy who saved her life died because she was unwilling to even call the cops.
This is what happens when some people live under the premise that nothing is THEIR responsibility and everything is up to the government or its minions to take care of.
There’s that superior urban culture the left talks about.
From NY-1 News:
Police were searching Saturday for a suspect accused of killing a homeless man who tried to stop an assault on a woman in Queens.
Authorities say Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax, 31, was stabbed several times in the chest last Sunday morning at 88th Road and 144th Street in Jamaica.
They say a man, seen above on surveillance video, was assaulting a woman when Tale-Yax tried to intervene.
The suspect then turned a knife on Tale-Yax, who died on the sidewalk as pedestrians walked by, apparently unaware or uncaring that he needed help.
The suspect is described as five-feet-six-inches, with a medium build and wearing a green short-sleeved shirt, a green hat and dark pants.
Police believe the woman was able to flee the scene when the attacker turned on Tale-Yax. She is described as five-feet-three-inches tall, thin, and wearing a three-fourth length jacket and a skirt.
Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

BUT, we don't have people laying on our sidewalks. This would obviously be a situation that needed my attention.
Not so sure this would be the case in NYC. I have seen, for myself, a homeless guy sleeping on the sidewalk outside the Javits Center. I didn't call 911. I figured he was sleeping. He was, as he was later awakened by our groups presence.
I saw a bum laying on a bench just outside Central Park. He had blood on his head and there was a small pool of blood on the sidewalk below his head. Did I call 911? No. There were HUNDREDS of people on the sidewalks and I figured someone must have already called and I was just a tourist. After I walked away a police car and ambulance pulled up to that location.
Don't be so quick to condemn those NYers. It's a different world.
This kind of thing is less likely to happen in places where seeing people passed out in the street would be considered “out of the norm”.
1) This guy was laying in a pool of blood.
2) I've lived in New York City all my life and know first-hand how cowardly and unconcerned most people here are.
Really sickening. Makes NYers look as bad as people think we are.
PS, I hope they catch the perp and serve him a little bit of justice in a NYS jail cell.... that ought to hurt.
“Not until some 15 minutes after he was shaken by the pedestrian — more than an hour and 20 minutes after the victim collapsed — did firefighters finally arrive and discover that Tale-Yax, 31, had died.
Firefighters were responding to a 911 call of a non-life-threatening injury at 7:23 a.m. when they found his body.”

The homeless immigrant killed last week in Queens while rescuing a stranger from a knife attack will be mourned at a wake in Brooklyn Wednesday. ..."
At least 25 of his fellow New Yorkers walked past the Guatemala native as he lay dying, and no one thought to call 911 for nearly two hours.
The wake will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. at Funeraria La Fe, at 183 Wyckoff Ave.

Rest in peace. A true hero stepped in to help someone and all others just let him lie there. God forgive them.
Not to stir the pot here, but what would the FR reaction be if it turns out he was an illegal immigrant?
Be honest now...
Looking forward to the responses...
A lot of illegals seem to be otherwise decent, hard-working, family-orientated people, at least here in NYC. They are very polite and respectful. I'd much rather have them as neighbors than many members of certain other groups, if of course they had done things the correct way and entered the country *legally*.
I don’t consider an angel’s presence illegal.
Kitty Genovese syndrome...
Health Care starts with the people. “Hey Mister, are you all right?”
You will also see 10s of 1000s of selfish, uncaring, unobservant people doing little to assist other people in need, even in circumstances requiring a minimum of effort. You rarely even see people bothering so much as to inform a driver that his headlights are off. Dozens walk right past them at crosswalks without alerting the driver. Yet all it takes is a simple hand pointing directed at the car's lights.
Yep! A solid obamao state...
The call takes a few moments. The cops can decide what they want to do but you at least made a reasonable effort to help. I also live in a large east coast urban area...I would not hesitate to call.
The homeless man was obviously NOT a NYer.
Maybe these people are afraid of being attacked or stabbed or sued by some low life lawyer for trying to help. I myself having lived in long island and been to the city have seen many drunks, homeless, druggies, etc Call me selfish or uncaring but many have put themselves in this position. there is help out there but its up to them not me. Growing up I never thought about carrying or owning a fire arm but I now go nowhere without one.
For the record, “You will also see 10s of 1000s of selfish, uncaring, unobservant people doing little to assist other people in need” is what I wrote. It was neither in quotes or italicized.
Anyway, my point was that if they are unwilling to do the simplest of things, such as telling someone their headlights are off on a dark night in pedestrian-packed Manhattan, they (most people in NYC) certainly aren’t going to do anything more involving and potentially dangerous (to themselves).
I have signaled to people about their lights only to be ignored because they are to busy yakking on the phone or texting not caring about there fellow man.
