The remains of Noah's Ark have been discovered 13,000ft up a Turkish mountain, it has been claimed.
A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say they have found wooden remains on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey.
They claim carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old around the same time the ark was said to be afloat.
Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team, said: "It's not 100 per cent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 per cent that this is it."
He said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals.
The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds none have ever been found above 11,000ft in the vicinity, Yeung said.
Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted.
The biblical story says that God decided to flood the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was.
He then told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.
After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain.
Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.
Would this news be more credible had it been published by either the New York Times or Washington Post instead of the Sun ?
I didn’t think carbon dating was that accurate.
And this makes, how many times it’s been found?
And claimed. And claimed. And claimed.
Noah’s Ark seems to be “discovered” about every two years, always on the same mountain.
I met my match at EcarbonHarmony.com
Noah’s Ark gets found very often.
An Ark is nothing more than a modern shipping container.
Do I believe the story of Noah?? No..sounds like artistic license at it's best.
Bill Cosby: “What’s a cubit?”
In truth, they probably re-found the remains of an old monastery which was discovered on Ararat decades ago.
It’s actually the ancestral remains of the adolescent Yeti home of Helen Thomas.
And when anyone from any other country wants to go to the site to take a look at the thing the Turks will not grant the request.
Until they allow experts from around the world to examine the remains, it will continue to be bogus.
I'm a seasoned citizen and my recollection is up to a half dozen times in the last 50 years.
Whats a cubit?
One of the funniest comedy albums of all time.
Enough to fit two of every animal on earth?
Well if they find rhinoceros caca, I’m sold.
Did Yeti lead them to it? Was the Loch Ness monster aboard?
Did Nostradamus predict this? What about the dolphins?
Well, at least this time they got wood...............
Thanks for the clue..that sounds MUCH more likely...
Just DNA samples.........
Well.., not saying that it’s a valid claim that it’s been found, but it’s something interesting — as we know that there was a world-wide flood and there was a ark that Noah built and it did come to rest upon some mountains over there. It may still be around and then again, it may not. I don’t know if it still is in one piece and recognizable.
It would certainly be very interesting if we did finally find it. Aside from finding it, we already have the sure Word of God about the World-wide flood, the reasons for it and that we all come from just three families (three couples, merely six people) to restart the entire human race ... :-)
“How long can you tread water?”
The story that never dies. But this time they know it is true because they found a Made in China tag.
I mean come on...wouldn’t it have been like a rock star or some sort of tourist destination. WOuldn’t they have told their kids “oh yeah there was billions of people and we were the only ones who survived because we got on that BIG boat..and oh the stories we could tell...oh the smell...you gotta go see it”.
To be fair, there has been much talk the last decade or so that they believed they had found it but an uncooperative Turkish government was clogging up the works. I’m not saying this is or is not the ark, but this is apparently the first time they’ve been able to go actually check this out. We’ll see if anything other than big fat claims comes of it.
And just how did the ark get in the turkey?
Whats a cubit?
“One of the funniest comedy albums of all time.”
Actually a cubit is a unit of measure. It’s okay to say that you don’t know the right answer. ;)
If they can trace dna found in the RINO compartment to McCain and Graham, I will be convinced.
It think it is along the lines of “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” Of course, assuming it is true, part of that evidence would be the elevation.
Oh, ye of little faith?
It must be true. I read it in The Star!
Fixed it for you.
The Noah story is the Jewish version of the Akkadian (per-Summerian) Gilgamesh flood story. Much more likely that the flood was experienced in the Persian Gulf when rising seas broke open the Strait of Hormuz. This is also the site of Eden. Can’t see how the ark got to Mount Ararat. Methinks there is something up there, but what it is is beyond me.
i think this is the same that has been reported for the last 30 years and sat pics shown....the problem was over the years turkey would never allow expeditions to the site....
C14 (Carbon-14) dating is based on a ratio of C-14 to C-12, a ration that remains in stasis in living things but begins to decline at the death of the organism. Theoretically, so much isotopic decay occurs in half-life steps that at about 50,000 years there is nothing left of the original C-14. Therefore, C-14 should work great for near-term events 5000-10,000 years ago, but become dramatically less accurate going further back, and utterly useless after 50K years.
Bill Cosby’s Noah (appx. 8 minutes)
Wouldn’t they have used stone, more readily available there, than hauling wood up to 11k feet?
there was a monestary on that mountain once, about 1000 years ago, it was high up but lower than the ark, it came down once after an earthqauke
I tend to think the Gilgamesh story is the Akkadian version of the Hebrew original, with distortions added via “telephone game” effect.
“Am I on Candid Camera?”
It’s like watching “Lost” on tv. They’re lost. They’re found. They’re lost. They’re found. Etc.
"Noah's Ark" my Great Aunt Tilly's garters!
This picture is undeniable proof that Noah's Ark has been found, or if not then Big Foot is alive and well in Turkey...
They know that once the truth comes out, no one will pay any more attention to them. Tourism may die, eeeeeeeeeven.
