President Barack Obama on Tuesday pledged to bring his own party along to reform the nation's broken immigration system, pleading with Republicans to join in as the only realistic hope to solve a politically volatile problem.
Obama also offered fresh, stern criticism of a new Arizona law that allows police to question anyone about their immigration status if they have reason to suspect they are in the country illegally. The president said a comprehensive federal immigration effort is needed to prevent "bad laws" like Arizona's.
"I will bring the majority of Democrats to the table in getting this done," Obama said in response to a question at a town hall in south-central Iowa. "But I've got to have some help from the other side."

Notice no one seems to be running and managing government.
They pass laws against business and people but there is never any accountability, management or control of government. The most expensive government in the history of the world.
Racial Profiling is OK for Obama’s Federal Government Cops
Obama’s police force at Customs and Border currently operates dozens of inland traffic checkpoints which stop EVERY vehicle to check for illegal aliens, drugs and illegal weapons.
I have personally been stopped numerous times and asked for my I.D. and purpose of my trip while travelling from McAllen, Tx to Corpus Christi, Tx on Hwy 281 and Hwy 77. Note that at no time did I ever cross the border into Mexico. I was just in McAllen on business.
They also question everyone in the car and racially “profile” them. Looking “Mexican” and not speaking English are 2 very important clues that my passenger may not be here legally.
It’s time to ask politicians and the media why our local police forces shouldn’t have the same power to set up random checkpoints and stop every vehicle and ask the same questions as Obama’s police force.
Overturn all he does as soon as he is gone. His time is limited. We need to stall, hamper, and obstruct all that he attempts to do. That which he and his like do pass, we must address after the next election cycle.
Isn’t it bureaucRats and/or the state dept that defines legal immigration? Why are they not doing an end-run (or maybe they are) increasing legal immigration? Seems to me they might try and blur the distinction between illegals and legals.
