San Francisco Leads Charge to Boycott Arizona, But Calls Could Spark Backlash

Sanctuary city San Francisco is leading the charge in pressing municipalities and groups to consider a boycott of Arizona over its law that will allow police to ask people their immigration status.

Mayor Gavin Newsom this week suspended all non-essential travel for city employees going to Arizona, meaning no conference in Scottsdale next weekend for members of the city's housing authorities. The city's Board of Supervisors also has taken the first step toward an economic boycott, a move that could result in the suspension of existing contracts with Arizona-based companies and a ban on new ones.

Laura Ingraham said she was going to get a list of places in AZ to show our support through. I haven’t looked for it yet (being low on funds) but good place to go to when she pulls it together.

I’m not familiar with the Commerce Clause.

From Article 1, Section 8; the Commerce Clause: To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

That's it. That's the entire "Commerce Clause".

If I were in Arizona, I would be advertising this. Opposition from San Fransisco isn’t exactly a liability in much of the country.

I thought the original intent of the commerce clause was to prevent states from throwing up trade barriers against other states.

Now it seems to mean whatever they say it means.

Great, the country is in a major economic recession created by the leftist government and what do the leftists come up with? It never ends, another leftist government sponsored anti-business idea to go along with all of their others.

I already boycott them as much as I can.

Apple Computer is based near San Fransicko if memory serves.

Ruger is in AZ.

Texas and Australian wines have been stomping all over the California vintages in the last few years anyway.

Start by boycotting AZ’s electrical production, CA. See how that works out for you.

That single subject is worthy of a thread of its own. I hope Rush hammers on that this week.

And Phoenix having one of the highest kidnap rates in the country really helps the tourist trade, right?

When Arizona arrests beaners under the new law, instead of sending them back to Mexico, they should issue a bus ticket to San Francisco and a detailed guide, en español, to available taxpayer-supported California social services.

Several years ago, I attended a radioactive waste conference in Scottsdale, sponsored by DOE. Look for Obama to tell all his departments to boycott AZ.

I will no longer buy California wine ... but then, why should I? Washington has better wines in the first place.

You weren't expecting them to think of something that could actually stimulate the economy, were you?

Anyone remember this? From 2005?

“Boycott San Francisco! The Iowa:
Today the SF Board of Supervisors engaged in an offensive display of prejudice, stupidity and a lack of respect for history, both of the military and of the gay community.

“The San Francisco Board of Supervisors today voted 3-8 against a resolution urging the San Francisco Congressional Delegation to support the permanent berthing of the USS Iowa as a museum at the Port of San Francisco.”

I'm sorry, but I will not ever visit a place where the US military is not welcome.

San Francisco has gotten so insular and cut off from reality that it has gotten loonier than Colorado Springs did after its takeover by the theocrats.

http://www.gryphmon.com/2005/07/boycott_san_fra.html

Altogether now, BOYCOTT SAN FRANCISCO!

There’s concern if the boycott is made uniform, 2,500 San Franciscans could lose their jobs.
