One guy called up a local talk show here, talking about how his mother got taken in and briefly incarcerated while some cop (California) checked her status. Well, he also said that the reason she was taken in was because she didn’t have her green card on her so it wouldn’t get stolen. The radio guy is Canadian so he said, “Why doesn’t your mother do what I do? Carry a PHOTOCOPY of her green card around with her at all times.”
I mean, DUH!!!
Seriously, if I am a foreign national living here, I tuck my visa or passport or copy of green card in my purse or wallet and there you are. Big deal.
