WASHINGTON (AP) - New federal rules are in the works to limit the amount of mercury and other harmful pollutants released from boilers and solid waste incinerators.

A proposal Friday by the Environmental Protection Agency targets mercury emissions from about 200,000 industrial boilers, heaters and solid waste incinerators. Mercury can damage the brain and nervous system, especially in fetuses and children.

So did I.

My father used to get it from old mercury switches. If you put some on a silver coin it would make them really bright for a while, then they would get dull.

A friend once told me that if you put a drop of it in someones beer, they would have to go to the bathroom within seconds. Hershey squirts all over. He said he did it once and it worked just fine. Don’t know if the guy survived or has two heads or not.

Mercury in the emissions is a far more legitimate concern than CO2. The problem is that the people who are going after mercury lost their credibility on the CO2 issue.

We did too. Broke my mom's thermometer just to get the stuff. Maybe that's why I'm now addicted to FreeRepublic.com

AT the same time: Incadescent bulbs will no longer be allowed to be produced after 2012.

We MUST use the bulbs that have mercury in them!

One hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing.

Meanwhile, I keep buying light bulbs .

I have had amalgam poisoning...organic mercury poisoning in other words. There exists three types of mercury...organic, inorganic, and elemental, and organic is the worst as there is no recovery from damage done. The effects are ongoing and I do not know from day to day how I am going to feel physically, and what the looming long term effects will eventually be. I allow no mercury products in my life and am adamant on my stance against amalgam dental fillings.
