Authorities in southern Arizona are searching for a deputy who radioed for help and said he had been shot with an AK-47 assault rifle in a remote desert area. Pinal County Sheriff's Lt. Tammy Villar says the deputy called in Friday to say he had encountered a group and been shot in the abdomen.

The area is used by drug- and human-smugglers from Mexico.

However, the circumstances that led to the shooting are unclear.

Arizona must defend itself. Arizona has the absolute responsibility to defend its citizens.

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities in southern Arizona have found a deputy wounded in a shootout with suspected drug smugglers after a frantic hour-long desert search.
Pinal County sheriff’s Lt. Tamatha Villar says the deputy suffered a superficial wound to his abdomen after being shot with an AK-47 assault rifle Friday afternoon. He was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Casa Grande, about 40 miles south of Phoenix.

Isn’t this the County where the Sheriff said that he was not going to enforce the new immigration law?

What about GPS? Heck, even the trucking companies out of Arizona track their equipment with GPS.

Exactly every police and sheriffs dept around here including the Podunk Mayberry's have a system called ADL which allows the dispatcher to track units via GPS so they the closest car can be dispatched to a call.

It also allows them to know exactly where an officer is on a traffic stop so all the officer has to do is hit a panic button on his portable radio and dispatch will seen help, don't even need to talk.

Okay...

WHy would this deputy effect a traffic stop w/o giving the location of the traffic stop, HWY 1234, at or about mile marker 123456 etc...

On HWY 54321 about 5 miles from the city limits of Skunk Bottom Hollow...

The Deputy was meticulous enough to call out the type and kind of weapon used to shot him, yet he failed to give out a location?

WTH!?!?!

I don’t know enough about GPS to say if that would be accurate, I would imagine it depends on how accurate the mapping software was.

Even the cheapest of GPS units you can buy at Sprawl-Mart allow for 3 meter solutions.

Great. We're moving to Maricopa, which is on 347, in June. Good thing we finally armed ourselves a few years ago....

I can't imagine why the vehicles driven by these officers (and all Border Patrol, or for that matter, where the officers have to patrol huge wilderness areas) aren't all "Lojacked." Where a coded signal can be sent to the vehicle via satellite and the GPS coordinates come up at the offices, in order to find the vehicle.

I hope the officer will be found alive and safe.

I’m sure Obama will find time between golf and basketball to issue a statement. Just like he did for the professor/cop Cambridge situation. Any minute now.

Any minute.

What the hell are you talking about? I’ve never posted any such thing. I think that you’ve got me confused with somebody else.

Is it possible that with Arizona saying enuff of the Illegals and stuff that the Mexican Cartels have declared war on Arizona?

Pure speculation on my part.

Seems the Cartels have been taking out Mexican LEO and politicians who bugger them why would they see a border as any reason to stop them.
