We never heard a peep from any naval personnel who were on the ships beneath TWA800, perhaps because of a Clinton Executive Order that they keep silent.

“Anyone with Merchant Marine experience knows that the supply boats sank the rig with their water cannons. Water can not put out that type fire. They filled it up and sank it. It would of sat there and burned until they could control it. In an enclosed space the steam from water could put out an oil fire. The key is not to put too much water just enough to create steam and not sin the ship. Dump ass paniced supply boat Captains blew it.”

That is somewhat of a relief. This disaster is still very strange. Thanks for the info.

I am certain his extensive experience as community organizer in inner city Chicago made him a super engineer

It did!.....

.....Didn't you hear he knows how to design cars, and he told GM they WILL make electric cars? (even if they don't sell)

Yeah, I don’t trust Obama with this or anything else. EVERYTHING is political with this guy. It is extrememly harmful to the nation. There was ONE instance I remember of a non-politcal event (the VERY early treatment of Swine Flu- the first days or so, then it changed and was used to push for govt healthcare), which shortly after chaned and was used for his own agenda.

Maybe someone knowledgeable here can explain if there is any possibility of this explosion happening by intentional tampering. So many theories going around.

Sure it's possible, but unlikely as human errors are more likely and the most likely is that the "BOP" failed to operate properly.

This is a rare thing these days, but a blow out is a catastrophic event on a rig. The preventer is supposed to make a blowout unlikely, but it is now obvious that the BOP failed because oil is flowing past it after the rig detached and sunk.

I am thinking that it was somehow fouled by the concrete slurry activity that occurred about 20 hours before the event. I don't know of this ever happening before. It is a bit strange.

Crude oil seeps are common in the oceans of the world. There are thousands of known ones and many more than that unknown.

Crude is as natural a substance on this planet as anything else. The environment is not hurt by it, and in fact it often creates a natural environment of it's own where bacteria feed on the oil and little fish eat the bacteria and bigger fish eat..............and so on.

IMO, there will be no long term damages to the environment in the gulf, and short term damages will be to birds and some gulf shrimpers who will have to go somewhere else until the slick dissipates because it will foul their catch if they pull up their nets with oil on the surface.

The crude will be absorbed by the environment and within months, not years.

Once the power plants were damaged by the fire, the rig would no longer have it's thrusters to maintain position, nor pumps to keep it buoyant and floating.

It was going to sink in any case. These things can stay afloat unmanned because it's all automatic, but the blowout and fire likely took out the controllers and the generators and without them, it will capsize and sink within days on the rigs I am familiar with. I understand this one was state of the art.

For "dry land" versions of the same, check out californiacrude's videos of natural oil seeps near McKittrick, CA.

Yup.....I can’t imagine how much crude leaks into the oceans daily from seeps on the floor. The number of barrels would be friggin amazing.

They refuse to see crude oil as a natural substance. There are many derivatives of crude that are indeed harmful to the environment, but the composition of raw crude is not and once the lighter elements escape into the atmosphere, the residue left will begin to sink and it will become part of the food chain. What little is left will end up as part of the sea floor and perhaps part of the oil supply in the distant future.

You might also consider the absolute truth that the environmental movement has nothing to do with the environment. It is a political movement that uses the environment as a fundraiser scheme just as the anti-globalists use multinational business.

In reality they are all interchangeable and want simply to cause chaos and the demise of the West just as any Communist does.

I have actually known that for a long time as I used to, with someone else, run a large conservative news and opinion web site. Many of the contributing authors wrote about the hardships that have been caused by the environmental movement...farmers having water cut off because a non-indigenous pest species could be harmed (Klamath), spotted owl silliness, cutting off the use of DDT and causing needless human deaths from preventable disease, wetlands designations causing people to lose rights over their property, acid rain that isn’t - the list goes on forever. And all that was long before Al Gore’s scam.

Somehow, though, I didn’t question the oil spill disasters. I guess I let myself be unduly influenced by those pathetic images of dying birds and sea lions.

One other thing I believe about the environmental movement is that, in conjunction with a lot of other policies and groups, those people don’t much like people in general and would like to have a lot fewer of them in the world.

I gotta good belly laugh watching the news tonight. FOX's Mr. GladMan Sheppard Smith ran some clips of some S. Louisiana fisherman whining about the fact that they may never fish again............

The facts are as follows....The spill is way east of their usual shrimping grounds, assuming they even go out into the gulf. Only the big boys do, and most of the small boats fish inland waters as the area is 80-90 percent water. Brown shrimp season has not yet started so they would be sitting around anyway, most likely and I would venture a guess that most of them fish out of the back of a 20ft Bayliner.

The Oyster guys might have a issue if their beds are west of the inlet but I don't know much about oysters.

What I am saying is that all this hand wringing for the cameras is for a check from BP. They pray for plant explosions and the like to collect damages and when it happens it is a free for all.

BTW, I lived down there for 11 or so years. I used to shrimp in my spare time when I was not working on a rig or refinery.

Like Katrina, what you see on TV is mostly a act and panning for the cameras while they stick their other hand in your pocket.
