Roll Call’s gossip column Heard on the Hill received a tip that Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., capped off a recent speech on his struggle with substance abuse by visiting Capitol Lounge and downing a series of shots.
After slamming down the first round, another was ordered, then a third. Our tipster and his friend stopped doing shots, but Kennedy drank three more until the bartender cut him off, at least from obtaining any more shots, our tipster says.
Our tipster adds Kennedy was in a lively mood, joking with others at the bar and even boasting about President Barack Obama, calling him “the best president ever.”

Of course, his re-election chances are in no danger due to his last name.
I guess after 6 drinks he forgot that he had an uncle who was President of the United States.

On a more somber note, addiction runs on both side of the poor slob's family. Patrick has been in and out of rehab several times since he was a teenager -- for everything from alcoholism to prescription medicine to hard drugs. Each failure significantly diminishes the chance he can overcome his problem before it kills him.
Patches is another classic example of the Kennedy Curse playing itself out in prime time.
He's not running again. He is retiring (and will get health and a pension for life). What the press is downplaying was that once the Senator passed, the fat-cats stopped calling Patrick or taking his calls. Bad press, less money... the writing is on the wall.

Ha, ha, kind of reminds me of the great cartoon by Oliphant where Teddy is driving and Jimmy Carter is in the passenger seat.
I know someone who keeps a running count of how many days Teddy has been sober now. I’ll have to ask him.
I know it's not charitable but I have zero sympathy for this punk. Here in Boston no one my age (44) or younger gives a damn about this embarassing family, and Chrissy Matthews and the other worshippers only show how out of touch they are when they live their Kennedy fantasies on the air.
