A British soldier dubbed the Silent Assassin has broken a distance record after taking down two targets from a mile and a half away.
Corporal of Horse Craig Harrison, a British Army sniper, killed two Taliban machine gunners in Afghanistan from a distance of 8,120 feet, Sky News reported.
"The first round hit a machine gunner in the stomach and killed him outright. He went straight down and didn't move," the 35-year-old said of the incident, which took place in November 2009.
"The second insurgent grabbed the weapon and turned as my second shot hit him in the side. He went down, too. They were both dead."...

Wow! That’s awesome!
I hope I never piss him off...
You’re more correct than you may realize.
The previous Canadian record holder was brought back home and “interrogated”, along with other Canadian snipers, about their actions.
It led to him, and a number of other Canadian snipers, leaving the military entirely.
Deadly ... Craig was using the Army's latest L115A3 sniper rifle
Not Guilty!
When I first heard the range, my natural thought was that it had to be the .50 cal. Looks like I was mistaken. I have to look into this .338 Lapua a little more.
Dayummm! Wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that!
I had not heard about that. Got link?

Nice music selection with the video.
Niiiiiice.
And expensive.
The Brits perfer the .338 Lapua Magnum because it makes the rifle smaller and lighter and much, MUCH more accurate than the .50 caliber round.
I am totally unfamiliar with this caliber. Are there any US-made accurate bolt-action rifles available?
How is it at punching holes in metal?
Plenty of accurate US rifles, but I don’t know who’s making one in .338 Lapua Magnum. I don’t know if a Remington 700 long-action (Sendero) could accomodate this round. It will fire the .300 Win Mag, though.
It’s not the ink itself that I oppose, it’s the tribal tats themselves that are lame. My opinion.
But that dude could totally kick my ass, and since he kills jihadists, which is a great service to humanity, I completely give him a pass.
Thank you, SJ. Unbelievable.
LOL... I think my wife would say that too.
Barrett makes one in that chambering, it was in American Rifleman a few months ago.
Nice piece. Probably won’t penetrate light armor with a .50BMG but it’s hell on goblins apparently.
Nice shooting soldier.
Or a .417
