Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad admitted his involvement in the terror plot to FBI agents who arrested him late Monday at New York's JFK airport...
Shahzad, who had been the subject of a huge manhunt, almost made it out of the country on a Emirates flight to Dubai, with a planned connection onward to Pakistan..
"He appeared real close to getting away," one federal official said. "The plane was buttoned up. Backed away from the jetway."
Authorities said that despite the manhunt, his passport had not been flagged and he was able to buy a ticket with cash and clear airport security.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, while refusing to criticize any agency Tuesday morning, said Shahzad was "clearly on the plane and shouldn't have been."

I have flown just about one million moles...US only...and have NEVER purchased a ticket for cash.
expensive cash ticket for a guy whose house was “foreclosed”.
Course, I wouldn’t see a issue if he were flying from Memphis to Nashville, and paid $120 in cash for a one-way ticket. But a guy shows up and wants a $1500 ticket to Dubai...and pays cash? Something here doesn’t sound right. But then...how many terrorists have ever used a credit card? And of the 19 9-11 guys...how many of them used cash...just out of curiosity?
does he get his money back?
“expensive cash ticket for a guy whose house was foreclosed.
I don’t get the big deal about the foreclosure...knowing this was in his future, why would anyone be surprised that he didn’t pay? Besides, he’s a democrat.
“New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, while refusing to criticize any agency”
That is because he is a Muslim and a registered Democrat.
Why is it that jihadi bombers get to fly the friendly skies and 6 year old American white boys named John Smith can’t make it through security without getting flagged as terrorists?
I was flying out of Long Island a few years ago and was put in the suspected terrorist line because they said I had a one way ticket. No, my airline had bumped me to another carrier! This just shows how ridiculous and inept our system really is...
If you or I tried this cash thing....we would have been jumped the moment we flashed it.
The words ‘muslim’, ‘Islam’, and ‘Democrat’ are not mentioned.
Anyone else just suddenly realize how incompetent and worthless our government is? I mean seriously. You know that sour feeling you get in your gut.
No matter how you cut it, the Feds messed up. The airport called the Feds....but it sounds like they didn’t notify the pilot.
So much for the claim that they had deliberately let him on the plane to see if he interacted with any accomplices.
Another great (near)success story for the jihadis. The fecking “Underwear Bomber’’ got on the the plane, no luggage, no passport, no problem(and the bomb) This guy pulls out 15 hundred in Ben Franklins and nobody’s suspicious of this. I feel so very safe today. Knowing the best people are on the job out there. I’m wondering too when Mike Bloomberg is going to apologize for opening up his big yap yesterday. Mikey Boy had it all figured out. Yup, had the guy pegged as a nut job who didn’t like ObamaCare.
“The system worked”...again.
Bloombereg’s a Muzzie!?!
Hmmmm. Cash *is* for underground transactions.
Being a “quiet guy who keeps to himself” must pay better than I thought. Cash for a one-way, last-minute (?) ticket to Pakistan, and $1300 for an SUV, right there in the wallet.
Exactly.
The system worked...again.
What’s it gonna take for the Dept of Homeland Security to instruct the TSA to start profiling and teach the agents how to do it? By the way, what level of intelligence has profiled the TSA agents themselves?
Come on! A name like that, one way ticket purchased in cash are two huge reasons to question this dude. The fact that it was all over the news that an attempted terrorist plot was avoided should have certainly got someone to hold this guy for even a little extra questioning. CNN is on tv’s throughout every airport in the nation.
Like I always say, “It’s better to lucky that good anytime” and ladies & gentleman that’s what we were!
I thought that selling tickets for cash was halted after 9/11 — especially one way tickets.
Amazing! They are specifically looking for this particular guy and NO ONE THNKS TO FLAG HIS PASSPORT! After all, why would anyone suspect he might try to leave the country?
The inepitude of these people is ridiculous. I guess filling the Justice Dept. with people only experienced in representing Al Quaeda terrorists ain’t working out.
Oh, so this is why we go through the hassle of standing in lines, taking our laptops out of our bags as well as our ziplock bags of any small liquid or gel items, remove our shoes and all that other rigamorole at airport security.
Good to know. I'd hate to think that all of that was a waste of time.
This story credits the FBI with catching him. Maybe they made the arrest, but according to another story linked on Drudge, he was located by by an army airplane that was looking for his cell phone. They must have found it at the airport just before his plane took off.
Janet Incompetano gets no creds for this one, the jerk.
This one was just luck. If this guy had any idea how to make a bomb we would have had an explosion in Times Square.
Where did you fly them to? Hahahahahaha!!!
Janet was terrible in Arizona, with the Nigerian Muslim on Christmas day, this mess, and whatever she does in future.
Hopefully, never as a judge
Before Duh-bya turned these clowns into federal agents, they were minimum-wage employees whose only training consisted of watching a 45-minute videotape.
No telling what sort of training they received after they were federalized. Not a lot, from what it seems.
Total luck that the bomb did not work, luck that the perp was found on that airplane, and...
This country is slowly ‘turning Turk’.
“...we would have had an explosion in Times Square.”
.
And Americans may have yawned, turned over, and fallen asleep again.
Where did you fly them to? Hahahahahaha!!!
Wasn’t easy...ever tried herding the little suckers?
TSA = FAIL = DEFUND immediately.
Well, according to Janet, this is what happens when the "system" works.

The time is coming soon when political correctness will earn these liberals rather glorious and overdue Darwin Awards.I will applaud that day. Waht A$$hats! At least the patriots got him despite everyting the liberasl could do tio give him a head start. Now watch him disappear for months so that we can get no onformatuion about the "War of Terror " that can no ;onger bve called a war on terror. The perp will be quietly charged with a politically correct misdemeanor, after singing his untrue intell story out falsely for Holder.
To bad they didn't give him a gun and a 30 second head start, which would have been more than he gave NYC if the bomb had gone off.
No but he gets bonus miles. For next time.
Leftists first!
and “deliberately letting him, (the TERRORIST), on the plane to see if he interacted with any accomplices” does not sit too well with me. You LET a terrorist on the plane. Aren’t we trying to keep them OFF of the planes?
I don’t think Bloomberg could identify an elephant at a three ring circus. As for Holder; undoubtedly his main concern now is to make sure Shahzad’s halal diet is not compromised.
Why are we still letting people from the middle east get citizenship?
We are in the very best of hands. By the grace of God the underwear bomber and this guy’s plots failed. It sure wasn’t because of the great job the government is doing protecting us from these terrorists that’s for sure.
The Mussie boys who trained in all of those places like Islamburg, New York, are now coming hoe to roost.
Just like we figured months ago.

Good theory. I hate to think how many jihadis like this are on U.S. soil waiting only for opportunity or orders.
