Christian Right Leader George Rekers and the 'Rent Boy'
Little Green Footballs ^ | 5/4/10

Posted on 05/05/2010 1:30:07 PM PDT by GSWarrior

Uh oh. Fundamentalist Christian leader George Rekers, who founded the politically active and virulently anti-gay Family Research Council with Dr. James Dobson, has been caught by a Miami newspaper on vacation with a ‘rent boy’.

"The pictures on the Rentboy.com profile show a shirtless young man with delicate features, guileless eyes, and sun-kissed, hairless skin. The profile touts his “smooth, sweet, tight ass” and “perfectly built 8 inch **** (uncut)” and explains he is “sensual,” “wild,” and “up for anything” — as long you ask first. And as long as you pay.

"On April 13, the “rent boy” (whom we’ll call Lucien) arrived at Miami International Airport on Iberian Airlines Flight 6123, after a ten-day, fully subsidized trip to Europe. He was soon followed out of customs by an old man with an atavistic mustache and a desperate blond comb-over, pushing an overburdened baggage cart.

"That man was George Alan Rekers, of North Miami — the callboy’s client and, as it happens, one of America’s most prominent anti-gay activists. Rekers, a Baptist minister who is a leading scholar for the Christian right, left the terminal with his gay escort, looking a bit discomfited when a picture of the two was snapped with a hot-pink digital camera.

"Reached by New Times before a trip to Bermuda, Rekers said he learned Lucien was a prostitute only midway through their vacation. “I had surgery,” Rekers said, “and I can’t lift luggage. That’s why I hired him.” (Though medical problems didn’t stop him from pushing the tottering baggage cart through MIA.)

"Yet Rekers wouldn’t deny he met his slender, blond escort at Rentboy.com — which features homepage images of men in bondage and grainy videos of crotch-rubbing twinks — and Lucien confirmed it.

The media never wanted to talk with Larry Sinclair. Why was that?

Aside from Rekers being the "enemy", they also see him as being a huge hypocrite, which he would be if the two of them tumbled around together in an illicit way.

No, you did fine.

Like I said. There will be more on this to be sure.

The dip-wads who were saddend to learn a Tea Partier wasn’t behind the Times Square bombing will be wetting themselves with delight to learn a Christian has a “Rentboy”.

Guessing from what the cost of renting a "boy" must be, I'm sure his "gun" really does "smoke"....... or whatever.

A sinner can be sinful and still acknowledge that it is a sin.

Homosexual activists deny it is a sin at all.

I’ve never even heard of this George Rekers.

But, being what he apparently is, “ex-gay,” and doing what he apparently does, which is counsel homosexual males on coming out of homosexuality, I’d think he would have been targeted with some sort of effort to entrap and discredit him before now.

This story sounds a little too tailor-made for leftist media and militant gay activists on the one hand. On the other, maybe Reker actually is a fraud.

Hard to tell right now, but it does sound like a script right out of leftist bogeyman central casting. That makes me think we’re hearing a story that is at least in part a concoction.

Why would the thread get pulled? It’s going to be all over the news. Dr Rekkers is a huge deal... In 1983, he and James Dobson formed the Family Research Council. It’s going to be all over the news, everywhere.

Rekers isnt admitting anything at the moment, and it looks like the emails he sent are not "explicitly" incriminating", so maybe he can tough this one out. But Im not optimistic for him.

I don't know. I guess cuz I'd never heard of this guy before until I ventured over to LGF, which is kind of an unreliable blog-site.

Dr. Rekers has some pretty heavy credentials. I think we should reserve judgement until all the details come out. He could have just hired the guy as a legitimate assistant and not known of his sexual lifestyle choice.

If he is a former gay person, then is sounds like he’s possibly having a relapse. He’s apparently on record saying such things are wrong before God.

God doesn’t hate homosexuals. He hates their homosexual sexual actions.

Additionally...

God doesn’t hate heterosexuals. He hates their heterosexual actions outside of marriage.

That was fast.

Here’s a link to The Times Of London:

That greenie paper in Florida or wherever really broke a big one with this.

This started with the Miami Herald. They called him and allegedly he admitted hiring his assistant off the “Rentboy” site. That sounds credible to me. Maybe in some bizarre way he was trying to minister to the young man but the more probable explanation is the most obvious one. Let's not let the fact that this is on LGF and in the MSM cloud our judgment. This is probably what it looks like and, if so, the guy is a hypocrite deserving of criticism.

If this is true, he and his organization deserve all the criticism they get.

I am skeptical about whether this is true or not. The homo lobby has tried in the past to manufacture "scandals" against their most public critics.

However, if it is true, Rekers definitely deserves criticism and probably to lose his job. I don't agree the organization deserves it unless they refused to do anything after finding out. (The "anything" could include monitoring and restrictions if he is repentent. He would probably only be fired if he refused to repent.)

I've been a fundamentalist Christian for over 50 years (currently a Deacon in my church) and I've never heard of George Rekers. However, as you stated, this can't be good. At best, it gives the appearance of impropriety. At worst, it's an embarrassment for The Family Research Council and by association, Dr. James Dobson.

If Rekers really was 'renting' a 'boy' for homosexual sex, this will give the secular media and the Christian-haters an opportunity to point fingers and scream 'hypocrite!' at the top of their lungs as they try to smear every Christian that follows scripture and opposes homosexual behavior as a 'closeted homosexual'.

I hope this story is either a fabrication or somehow misinterpreted but if not, I agree, this can't be good. Not good at all. Satan never sleeps.

I agree with you about the organization. They shouldn’t be criticized if they react properly. I guess this will play out. One thing is certain: this isn’t going away because it exactly the type of story the Left loves. Reckers actions were stupid for that reason alone even if he didn’t do anything sexual with the prostitute.

Unless the picture is photoshopped at the Miami aiport or this kid walked up and the picture was snapped then this guy appears to be toast.

Don’t claim to be one thing then do something else.
