Faisal Shahzad on Homeland Security List Since 1999: Why then did Obama make him a citizen in 2009?
cbs ^ | 5/5/10

Sources tell CBS News that would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad appeared on a Department of Homeland Security travel lookout list - Traveler Enforcement Compliance System (TECS) - between 1999 and 2008 because he brought approximately $80,000 cash or cash instruments into the United States.

TECS is a major law enforcement computer system that allows its approximately 120,000 users from 20 federal agencies to share information. The database is designed to identify individuals suspected of or involved in violation of federal law.

CBS News Exclusive Picture of Shahzad

The system has been recently called inefficient by members of Congress. In late March, Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Susan Collins of Maine criticized the system in a letter to DHS, writing that, "Current functionality does not allow interoperability among databases, fast searching of information, modern interfaces for users of the system, or sufficient security to protect critical terrorist travel data."

A modernization of the system began in 2008 and is expected to be completed by 2015.

This appears to be the smoking gun in all of this: How did a known or suspected terror suspect gain citizenship rights under the purview of Obama's administration?

If this guy was on a watch list since 1999 how could he possibly cite the Iraq war and George W. Bush as his motives?

probably the same reason they ignored the pleas of a father that his son was about to commit terrorists acts against our country- terrorists do not pose a threat to emperor obama- its those of us active in the Tea Party the emperor views as a threat!!!

when will people wake up?

better yet when will the GOP grow some b@lls and call out the rats?? they are to transfixed on "home grown" terrorism and calling people like myself, veterans and 60 year old grandmothers who speak out against emperor obama that they dropped the ball three times in over a year on the real danger that is terrorism....

The same reason Pres_ _ent Obama will not turn over to Congress
information regarding the Fort Hood massacre of 14 souls
or his relationship to all these enemy attackers,
or what he was doing in Poke-E-stan and elsewhere,
or why he is lawyering up al Qaeda using the DOJ,
or why he is freeing all the captured terrorists,
as he weakens every single facet of US security by quality and quantity,
as he reveals National Secrets to Iran and every enemy
of the United States of America,
as he FAILS SYSTEMATICALLY to turn over his own birth certificate.

He got his green card in 2006. How did a known or suspected terrorist gain permanant residency under the purview of the Bush administration?

Good question, but it is a far, far greater threat to allow someone like this to become a US citizen.

It’s pretty clear to me that this is a shining example of incompetence. The watchlist and the issuer of green cards are both under Homeland Security. They clearly don’t share information with each other.

Because it makes the MSM happy and they will bend over backwards to give him the benefit of the doubt and let them whack President Bush again. Perhaps even blaming Bush for the Times Square attempted bombing.

Do you really know what you are talking about?

To become a naturalized US citizen, one must undergo a much more thorough vetting process, one which of course should include some knowledge of what this country encompasses.

True, one must review the green card item, but it is paltry next to that of becoming a US citizen.

Keep the perspective.

Gosh, I’ve worked in IT recruiting, going through the green card and citizenship process with quite a few applicants, so yes, I’ve been pretty close to the process and its inner workings.

You?

There is no doubt why this guy got his citizenship. He’s Muslim, anti-American and a terrorist. These are exactly the kind of people Onada is drawn to. This fool is no different than Chavez or Absurdijumbi (or whatever) from Iran.

He became a citizen in 2009, but I would not be surprised if the review process took place in 2008, or perhaps in 2007, when Bush was in office. The level of incompetence for most government bureaucracies doesn't change from administration to administration.

Obviously, you cannot know the diff between a green card and a US citizen as you refuse to say anything other than address the green card issue.

Another Bush hater on FR.

Ahh, the rallying cry of someone who has absolutely nothing to say on the topic at hand.

"Bush Hater" Too funny.

What, no Obamabot claims to be hurled at the same time?

Obviously you cannot read. Words 13 and 14 of my post (that you hastily responded to) are the words "citizenship process". But not surprising from one who attempts to avoid their own total lack of knowledge on the topic with silly accusations.

Union public employee programmers are known to be very meticulous in their work. It would be a shame to make even one mistake etc.
