While Katie Couric and Michael Bloomberg were surmising that Tea Party Patriots were behind the failed New York bombing, Nashville was waking up to the aftermath of the areas largest rainfall in 500 years.
The storms began rolling in Saturday afternoon as I watched the radar. By early evening, I was glued to the local news. People were fleeing their cars, as they began to float. A Christian school building was swept away and joined cars and trucks drifting down highway 24.
The damage is devastating, the cost is in the billions; thousands have lost everything, but is it news worthy? Not really, not to the extent it deserves. Some are asking why, but some of us believe the answer is obvious.

Tide Loads for Hope trucks are coming to Nashville on Wednesday, May 12.
The Tide staff will literally wash, dry, and fold clothes for our
neighbors who need it.
Locations to be announced: Please contact Tide at 800-879-8433 (press 0
for operator) and let them know Nashville needs Loads of Hope.
The more calls they receive the bigger priority we...... become.
Flooded Victims Guidelines - Metro Nashville Public Schools
* Students who have been displaced from their homes and currently
reside elsewhere are allowed to remain in their current school
regardless of where they reside now, even if it’s outside of Davidson
County.
* If a family needs special transportation to remain at the current
school, instruct them to contact the Customer Service Center at 259-INFO
to discuss transportation options.
* Students who lost their standard school attire should not be
expected to meet our guidelines immediately upon returning to school.
Families needing assistance with SSA should contact the Homeless Office.
If the appropriate sizes are available, clothing will be sent to the
child at school. Please note at this point in the year our SSA
inventory is very low.
* Students who have been displaced from their homes will now
qualify for free/reduced price lunches. The Homeless Office staff will
complete approved free lunch forms for all eligible students upon
receipt of the completed Student Residency Questionnaire.
* Students displaced from their homes who now reside elsewhere
(either temporarily or permanently) have two choices of schools: the
school in which they are now enrolled, or the school into whose zone
they have moved. It is not necessary to submit an emergency hardship
transfer to attend either of these two schools.
* If parents are requesting a school different from the 2 mentioned
above, they will need to seek an emergency hardship transfer.
* Some schools may receive students displaced from other counties.
These students should be permitted to enroll as long as they provide an
address in your zone.
* In situations where the family intends to return to their flooded
residence, but who may want their mail to go temporarily to another
address, the school will simply change the mailing address in Chancery.
* All students who are absent because of the floods should be
marked as excused absences. It is not permissible to mark students
present who are not attending school, regardless of the reason.
* It is not necessary for students to return flood-destroyed
textbooks to schools. We do not want to spread mold into our schools.

You betcha...
Thank you Kenny Chesney for standing up for Tennessee! You have to wait through the commercial to see the interview, and footage Kenny took.

This may deserve a thread of it’s own.
Very Important! 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) Call FEMA to report damage. Sumner County really needs to get on the Fed Disaster List. Even those that have flood policies need to contact FEMA asap. VERY IMPORTANT!
Thanks, I will add that too.
