With the Washington Post Co. (NYSE: WPO) already considering the sale of Newsweek, the first quarter results surely cemented it. While other magazines were showing signs of life, Newsweek continued its steep decline, with revenue dropping 36 percent to $29.4 million driven by a 38 percent loss in ad revenue. By comparison, the Washington Post showed an 8 percent decrease in print ad rev in Q1and an 8 percent increase for digital revenue. (our coverage.)
Still, by reducing expenses, the company managed to narrow Newsweeks losses to $2.3 million for Q1, compared with $20.3 million in Q109. The 09 quarter included $6.6 million in severance and operating losses for now-sold Newsweek Budget Travel. A number of factors contributed to the Q1 ad revenue decrease including one less domestic edition in the quarter and the Q4 sale of the travel mag. Subscribers may be paying higher rates but the 1.1 million-issue circulation reduction led to a drop in sub revenue.

Hoffman: “ Newsweek sucks “
The New York Times, Newsweek, Time Magazinw et al all roe the party line and when I say the party line I am not referring to the democratic party but the communist party which these days means the same thing.
Eleanor Clift alone would be enough to make me drive a semi filled with TNT over a cliff if I could take her with me. I hope she loses her pension.
Very good news.
That should entice a buyer.... not

Goodbye Newswipe, you were consistently the slimiest of the slime. Your Newsweak polls were always the most incorrect in your favoritism of the dimbulbs. You never missed an opportunity to be a hack for the libs.
The very media who will tell you how great obama’s economy is doing.
The only racism I am for is the racism against commie pig dogs like our president, most of his cabinet, most of his czars, and most of his administration along with many democratic members of Congress.
If the socialists running Newsweek had any business sense, they wouldn’t pretend that their far-left entertainment journal is actually a news journal. Of course, if they had any business sense, they wouldn’t be socialists.
With what is happening on Wall Street right now is deserved because many of those business bastards are in bed with Obummer and his administration, got him elected, financed his campaign and are continuing to bow low to him just as he bows low to foreign dictators and enemies of our country.
Gosh. I knew I'd forgotten to do something. I forgot to mail in my special bargain-rate offer of 3 years of Newsweek for just $12. When I mail it in, that'll bring their revenue back up to break-even. Sorry, Newsweak; I got your fat-finger error right here.
Die, Newsweek, die (you commie rag you)!
Just seems to make more sense that way.
