I really hope the wheels don’t come off for a few more years....I hope we “muddle through.” I hope.

I think we’re out of time. My estimate is that the deal’s going down before the November elections. They’re not just going to shrug and walk away, not when the’re on the cusp of achieving absolute power.

If they try anything that puts off the elections, the “awkward time” will be over.

Yes, I believe that would do it. That’s why I think that trouble’s inevitable. They’ve backed themselves into a corner, haven’t they?

I think that there are many centripetal forces in our society working to pull us apart along many weak fault lines. Race, ideology etc etc.

If and when our economy “goes Argentina” is when we will see the volcano explode.

Note that damnable "Machete" movie is scheduled for release on 3 Sept.

Can't be holding elections in the middle of a race-war now, can we?

Eight years along and the opposition is playing out its role to the hilt.

The good news is that we've never seen so many wide-awake people in this country.

That's a great article and a must-read for anyone who cares to dig a little deeper into the destructive psychopathology of the Left. Gramsci’s methodology has become the meme of the modern Left. Many people participate in their own destruction, their own downfall without really knowing why.

The truly frightening thing is the degree to which Gramsci’s ideas have been successfully implemented.

There used to be a link to that article on FR titled, “Who is Antonio Gramsci? You Better Learn”, but the link is now dead. This is one of those “required reading” pieces for anyone on this forum, especially anyone who cares about the future of our republic.

It’s been said that the human race can be divided into two parts - those who want to tell others how to live their lives, and those who have no such desire.

Heinlein I believe.

Speaking of subsets of people I've always liked how Heinlein put it: "Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort."

The problem is that those who want people to be controlled will stop at nothing and I do mean absolutely nothing to accomplish that goal.

How do we live with them? You hit it squarely on the head. We can't. We'll never be able to. And it's coming to a head sooner rather than later.

When it does it's going to be damned ugly. They've got their hands on the control levers of the most powerful nation state that's ever existed. And they're NOT going to give that up because they've lost anything as silly as an election.

Do you remember that part in Unintended Consequences where Henry Bowman asked his Professor something along the lines of "How do we know when the Government is like that guy with the van and the handcuffs?"

Well I'd say we're pretty much at that point now.

What do we do about it? Well that's not a subject for this forum, nor any other public forum. That's a subject for hushed whispers with trusted friends.

Your comment drives right to the core of what I was trying to explain: that you can’t reason with the irrational; you can’t play by Marquis of Queensbury rules when you’re dealing with monsters; you can’t negotiate with cancer.

Everything that’s been simmering in the pot of cultural and spiritual nihilism is coming to a boil. My hope is that enough people will have woken up to the premise that nothing less than all-out war against the monsters who would rule us all to understand what a butchers bill we’re going to have to pay. There it is - brutal, but true. Some here wil llaugh at that; I’ll wager taht by the end of this summer, they won’t be laughing any more.

I’ve been giving more thought lately to the role that nihilism plays in this mess. Might have something to publish a bit later on that subject.

Those who are driven by the will to power typically disguise their intentions under the guise of 'achieving the greatest good for the greatest number' or social / economic justice. They may claim that they are 'doing the business of the people' or that they are acting according to 'the will of the people'. 'It's for the children,' you know.

Screwtape would be so proud!

Democide:

I would call it "demoncide".

We now live in a nation where policies and politics of the 'progressive', Gramscian Left have been formulated expressly to promulgate class and gender warfare, ignorance, passivity, racial division, poverty, envy, and hatred of the good for being good. It is the prerequisite for the acquisition and exercise of unlimited authority and power.

This is all part of the "demoralization" of which Yuri Besmenov warned!!! It is now complete. We are on the very edge of the next stage "destabilization". ( The bailouts were nothing but and artificial "crises".)

If they refrain from doing so it is only because they lack the opportunity and are suitably constrained by the rule of law backed by men who will enforce it.

And...By men and women who will overlook it!

The mysterious deaths surrounding the Clintons and now Obama are relegated to the back pages of the newspaper, and our police force refuses to fully investigate. The mainstream ( Marxist) media ( and appallingly our conservative media...Rush, Hannity, Beck, OReilly, etc...) is SILENT!

NO ONE in any branch of our government will confront Obama and his natural born status!!!! And, even our conservative media is SILENT!!! ( I am exasperated!)

We all know the fate of their German counterparts after the fall of the old Weimar Republic: how many were devoured by the same beast they whelped into the world with their ignorant approval and applause?

Yep!...Yuri Besmenov told us! The first people lined up against the wall and shot were the USEFUL IDIOTS!!!

"The greatness of a society does not come from its monuments but from the kind of people it produces. Justice, responsibility, and humanity - these are the qualities of greatness in a people. Only the humane can remain free, and only the free can remain humane..."

Conservatives! We must must must shut down the godless government schools and get our nation's children into CONSERVATIVE private schools that will thoroughly teach Judeo Christian values and our nation's founding principles!

Please see my vanity post "Demoralization, Government Schools, A Plan for RE-moralization of our Nation"

Freud, Marx and Skinner were atheists and all assumed that religion, the impulse that moved men and nations, the source of our notions of right and wrong - was a fantasy and always had been.

Oh well, then I guess there's no "social injustice" to get all worked up over, is there?

Lefties are such hypocrites!

They can't afford even the pretense of an election. There will be... a crisis. And then all hell will break loose. There are people on both sides - all sides, really - just waiting for an excuse. Best to choose your point of entry into this coming conflict very carefully - if you can. Do what you must to live through it. The alternative is unthinkable.

As I have commented on this forum before. I read a book called The Russians by Hedrick Smith. In the beginning of the book, he noted that the Soviet elite and political class were not intersted in fine desks, big offices, or other austentatious elements--but raw power. The lust for power is very dangerous, and we are seeing it unfold before our very eyes.

The Will to Power plays itself out at all levels. From the malice or indifference of the petty beureaucrat to the demonic mass murderers of recent times. For some, power and the exercise of that power is more addictive than any drug.

The need is insatiable. The result is horror.

I’m thinking “Guns of August”, while it’s got a nice literary ring to it, would be a tad premature.

If they “torch the Reichstag” in August, that’s nearly three months prior to the scheduled November elections, and come early November people are likely to be expecting things to be somewhat settled-down, and are less likely to put up with delayed/cancelled elections.

I’d be more inclined to expect a festering race-war after the release of “Machete” to lead to a classic “October Surprise”.

I could be wrong.

Noumenon, This is brilliant.

Tigerized, thanks for sending me the link.

It’s telling that when I was busy being a social sciences undergrad in the mid 70s, who did we study (without any moral context)?

Marx
Engels
Nietzche
Freud
Skinner
Chomsky

No one said a word about the inhumanity or immorality of their theories. And in the absence of that context, they all gained moral legitimacy.

No one said a word about the inhumanity or immorality of their theories.

And no one, virtually one at all ever said a word about the consequences of those monstrous and inhumane ideas. Those few who did were shouted down, ostracized, marginalized, censored and denied tenure and even employment. That fact alone is chilling, because it's the weather vane pointing to the gathering storm.

I’m thinking August and no later, because by then, it’ll be apparent even to the monsters who run the White House that they’re going to lose, and lose big in November. Their sheer hubris and impatience will drive them to naked totalitarianism.

That’s what concerns me, too. But here’s another layer - Cass Sunstein and the other regulatory ministers are in place. Do you think that they would decide that the cost-benefit ratio of canceling elections would not be worth it to them (never mind the inherent evilness of it), and that they would move their takeover efforts to the non-elective side of the balance sheet?

You know - it all looks normal from the voters’ point of view, but they continue to shove stuff through off the elective books?
