Although initially Aston Martin didnt intend to bring the V12 Vantage to the U.S. market, the British sportscar maker is planning to introduce this model in the fourth quarter of 2010, according to Inside Line.
Based on the 2007 V12 Vantage RS Concept, the roadgoing V12 Vantage was launched in Europe in 2009, being a heavily modified version of the standard V8 Vantage. Aston plans to build only 1,000 units of this car, which is powered by a 510 horsepower V12 engine.
Since the V12 Vantage was never destined for the U.S., Aston Martin had to make extensive modifications to the frontal crash structure so that the vehicle can pass U.S. crash test standards.
According to Aston Martin itself, the V12 Vantage is the brands most exhilarating sports car. It is the fastest and most agile Vantage ever created, thanks to racing-derived technology used in the vehicle. The V12 Vantage boasts 510 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, which help propel the sportscar from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds.
The V12 Vantage has a unique character, one unlike our other cars. This will appeal to different people with different tastes, allowing more people to enjoy the Aston Martin experience, said Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO. In addition to the standard Vantage V12, Aston Martin will also bring to the U.S. the Carbon Black edition.
Pricing for the U.S. market has not yet been made official, but The Inside Line estimates a price range of $180,000 to $200,000.
The V12 Vantage is derived from the V8 Vantage coupe, launched in 2005.

But out of my league
Just wait till Zer0 hears about this gas guzzler. It won’t even be allowed on the street.
James Bond will be thrilled.
Nice car, but zerobama will outlaw it for the average citizen because it’s way too capitalist. Only gov’t officials will be allowed to drive them because we’re too stupid and can’t be trusted with anything more than an electric go-cart.
Awesome car but I would never park it anywhere but my garage, imagine getting a ding in the door ?
Dear God.
I remember a nick I had on my Olds 442 in 1970. I was fit to be tied. I couldn’t imagine getting even dirt on the Aston.
And just picture a homeless guy with a filthy rag at a stop light wanting to “clean yer winders?”.
I’m saving my sheckles for ZR-1

When I have the cash, I want the new four door Aston Martin Rapide. :)
Corvettes will always have a place in my heart. Camaros too.
Too bad it’s now Gov’t Motors.
Better still, but not cheap

???
At $180K ~ $200K, I don't know what kind of "average citizen" can afford one of these anyway.
That’s the point.
Zero doesn’t want us to earn that much. He just wants us to pay it though.
Spread the wealth and all that, you know?
mine too. - a quality (if you ignore the interior finish) american made sports car. Z06 is amazing in that it gets 505 hp out of a normally aspirated pushrod engine.
I know our club Dealer sponser had one that was purchased by another Dealer in Wisconsin and paid $164k to get it, a triple black beauty.
Does it come with genuine Lucas electrics?
Chevy small blocks have won more races than any other engine. The big blocks are up there too.
I’ve had a couple of chevy small blocks, so much performance equipment available it’s mind boggling, and relatively inexpensive compared to other makes.
Beautiful automobile, but to take it out on American roads would be sacrilage.
I wonder what the MPG is when accelerating from 0 to 62 in 4.2 seconds?
Easy to make 700 hp. Not so easy to hold it together though.
I know plenty of guys who have made 383 small block chevys making 700 hp. A 350 4 bolt main small block with a crank from a 400 block, and a .30 overbore with some good aluminum heads, a lumpy cam, decent rods & pistons and either a hot fuel injection setup or a big double pumper carb. Will need high octane though.
Can be made for under 10 grand easily.
Or you can save the trouble and get a crate engine ready to bolt in.
“Olds 442 in 1970”
My husband and I had a 442 back in 1970. It was his first four speed on the floor . We took it on a 3 week cross country trip , driving the old route 66. Went from Az to LV and across to SF. Let me tell you it was a little scary having to manage a 4 speed on those SF hills esp from a dead start at a stop light. From SF we went to Reno , Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, then NY. Wow it was great to be young back then.

See now I am old and double post..sorry
OMG!
What an experience!
Yeah, it was great to be a kid back then. 39 cents a gallon for Sunoco 260 - 103 octane if I remember correctly.
Pink Floyd blasting from the 8 track.
Stewarts root beer stands. Real drive ups, food delivered to our car.
Drive in movies.
I could go on and on.

Aston Martin to Introduce the V12 Vantage in the U.S.
“
I will presume the quality of manufacture is outstanding.
But the vehicle looks like one Chrysler product...the “Crossfire”?
LOL... Lucas... the Prince of Darkness.
A lightbulb company... where all the employees have to go home before sunset. :-)
I was wondering who made this car. I saw one earlier this past week going south on I-95 near Stafford, VA. Very nice looking car. I could read the Vantage name on the right rear of the car, but did not recognize the manufacturer logo.
I wonder what the statistics for European front-on collision fatalities are (as compared to the US)? Seems like if the US was imposing more meaningful, safer regulations (OMG!LOL!As-if!), the rest of the developed world would've adopted those regs as well.
In Mich, I was paying 42 cents for 260, while others were paying 28 cents for regular. And my Hemi used a LOT of it.
260 was only gas that would not ping under hard acceleration, including Super Shell.
I still have the car, '69 Charger 500, concours condition just under 20,000 miles on it, original owner.
Have lots of trouble getting gas, I try only to use VP race gas, normally around $6-7 per gallon.
Ahhh, the good old days.
Congratulations to you for keeping your Charger. Not many of those babies are around either. I still remember the first time I heard a 426 Hemi in a GTX right out of the factory except for the headers. I swear the ground shook, and I was in complete awe.
I still have my ‘68 camaro, and it’s a great car, still easy to get parts too.
But I still wish I had the 442 though. It was a great cruiser and the 455 had around 390 hp with about 500 lb torque. Had to redo the oiling system though, and port the heads.
Have you ever tried an octane booster? You can add a can or two to regular gas.
That’s the one with the flush rear window, right?
WOW! Freakin’ WOW!!!
This part of the thread is useless without pictures, by the way...
On my Lotto List.
4.2sec prolly equals 4.2 mpg...
Right, along with a flush grill. The first NASCAR variant, supposed to build 500 for homologation, but only built 392. 440/4 was standard, only engine option was the Hemi. Mine is 'sorta' spartan...the ONLY option is engine, not even a radio, as it was originally destined for a race team that folded prior to delivery. Also bucket seats, but no console.
Sorry about pictures, I'm and old fart whose only computer exertise is on/off/enter.
Car is Hemi Orange, was on cover of Muscle Car Magazine as the first of their "Supercar" series.
Before driving in SF on the famous hills a person needs to watch the SF driving training film, "Bullit", with Steve McQueen as the instructor, driving a Mustang fastback.
I was doing considerable consumer research at the time, primarily in the field of acceleration from a stop. Usually accomplished with the aid of another researcher doing similar studies in another vehicle.
Unfortunately, my research uncovered a weakness in the oiling system at high RPM. To my great surprise, MOPAR told me to seek other venues for repair after my third spun bearing.Fine way to treat a loyal researcher...didn't even stand by their 12/12 Hemi warranty.
The next spun bearing prompted a very expensive trip to the Ramcharger's shop. $3,000 for balance & blueprint & a few internals & oiling system. Damn..only paid $4,850 for the car new.
Holy crap...what a difference!! It was damned quick stock, but the Ramcharger work easily added 200+ HP. Scared the crap outta me twice at VERY high speed, so I put in 410 gear to extend my life expectancy.
Naturally, these actions were not favorably received by my fellow researchers.
He’ll have one in his own garage, though.
That is a prize. Enjoy it!
You know Mr. Green, why don't you just go over to DU where you belong.
Nobody appointed you moderator, noobie.
Why don't you explain your reason for impersonating a moderator to somebody who actually has that authority?
I would bet money that you are a registered democrat, or maybe a green party member. You would lose your bet.
One thing is for sure, you hate oil,
believe in Global warming
and think that you have the right to tell people what to spend their money on.
That's a ludicrous statement. I don't care one way or the other how other people spend their money. It's none of my business.
But as a taxpayer, I DO have the right to lobby for (or against) however GOVERNMENT spends money.
Yeah.
No body told me the 455 had a two bolt main either, and also a comprimised oil flow. That was the worst, not knowing what you were in for after a spun bearing. But once you restricted flow on a few galleys, and opened up other ones it made a huge difference in longevity. You had to learn from experience or from others who went through the same headaches.
Still, they were the good ole days.
Does it come with the passenger side ejector seat and the front end rocket launchers?
That is typical of a lefty troll, which you are, no doubt in my mind.
You post anti-oil, anti-energy threads almost daily.
I advocate construction of nuclear power plants, numbnut.
That is hardly "anti-energy".
You decry the use of cars and want to push high speed rail and other mass transportation.
No, I decry gasoline that costs too much, imported cars (like Aston Martins and Yugos) and hybrid/electric Obama clown-mobiles. Made In USA cars ,like the Ford Mustang, are still on my approval list, although I'm not very happy with the parts and materials that are imported.
And there's nothing wrong with advocating mass transit sytems. In many situations, they are an economical and energy efficient mode of transportation the benefits everybody.
You push the liberal party line on energy with every frickin' thread but you still have the nerve to say you aren't a frickin' greenie and shot through with liberal BS.
Another shallow-minded slur and misrepresentation.
Libtard proposals like Algore's "cap and trade" go beyond stupid. And while solar and wind technologies are interesting, neither has the practical capability of supply the vast quantity of energy that we'll need. That is why I'm an advocate of nuclear power.
That is typical of a lefty troll, which you are, no doubt in my mind.
Your mind is obviously a defective unit.
Perhaps you only imagine that you're a conservative when you're actually a libertarian. Those numbnut potheads can get pretty confused, you know.
