We now have escapees from the terror watch list as ferry captain? I believe this is the same ferry that crashed previously.

Will Mayor Blooming-idiot be checking the blood to be sure he didn’t overdose on salt?

Control failure? Many of these vessels now have something more than a cable contol system. Either air or electronic are common and they do have failures.

“Instead of docking, the ferry angled away from its berth and slammed full-speed into a concrete maintenance pier, a concrete platform supported by pilings. The pier ripped into the ferry’s starboard side and tore into the boat’s main deck where many passengers were crowding forward to disembark. As the concrete slab entered the boat, passengers screamed and ran for cover. Some jumped into the 62 °F (17 °C) water.[citation needed] The accident left a number of victims trapped in a massive pile of metal, glass, and splintered wood. The accident was the worst in the ferry service’s 98-year history. The ferry’s hull, however, sustained no damage, and the vessel was never in danger of sinking.[citation need”

Witnesses say the boat actually sped up before reaching the dock. A witness at the terminal said everyone went running out of the terminal, thinking the boat was going to crash right through it.

A witness on the ferry said people flew across the floor as the boat hit the dock.

Staten Island ferry in today's crash is the same boat that was in 2003 fatal accident.

“Sources tell NY1 that a Staten Island Ferry boat involved with a fatal 2003 crash lost power and crashed into a dock at the St. George Ferry Terminal this morning, and fire sources say at least 60 people were injured.

Passengers on the boat told NY1 that the Andrew J. Barberi ferry boat picked up in speed as it approached the Staten Island dock, and then crashed at 9:25 a.m.

“Everything was smooth sailing.... Then as we approached the dock, it started speeding up,” said passenger Alex Gonzalez.

Passengers told NY1 there were no announcements made on the boat, and that some people were screaming, “Get away from the windows.”

“Then it was like everybody braced themselves,” said Gonzalez. “[The crash] was so hard it threw you back.”

A woman waiting at the ferry terminal told NY1 that a “black plume of smoke” emerged from the back of the ferry boat.

At least 10 people have been seriously hurt, and the ferry boat was damaged above the water line, according to fire sources.

Emergency personnel are currently at the terminal and several people were laid out by the dock in stretchers. Other victims are seated in wheelchairs and were given oxygen.

“It puts you in the mind of 9/11, when you see them carried off the boat on stretchers,” said a woman who was waiting at the ferry terminal.

Control failure? Many of these vessels now have something more than a cable contol system. Either air or electronic are common and they do have failures.

Both pneumatic (air pressure) control and electronic have fail-safes that default to idle speed on the engines and neutral for the transmissions.

If you have the standard Westinghouse air controls, the moment the air pressure drops, whether by leak/breakage or via the bridge controls, everything drops to neutral. It has been a reliable safety feature for over 50 years.

Been there...done that.

CNN BREAKING NEWS: Staten Island Ferry Crash, 60 Injured--TERRORIST RELATED??

"A woman waiting at the ferry terminal told NY1 that a “black plume of smoke” emerged from the back of the ferry boat."

A North Korean 2 man submarine is suspected as having fired the torpedo after the crew had a lunch break at Coney Island.

Bush is to blame for NK`s taking revenge for lack of of kimchee for the Coney Island hot dogs.

I don’t think the jihadis are using some 1930s movie serial energy beam to disable ferry boat controls. Either it’s poor maintenence or pilot error or both. There are layoffs coming in the Apple and this may be someone’s idea of resistance.
